  1. Cheers! I will try the delete all files except the 04CNTINF.DAT when I get time for it (I'm trying to get a thesis written up and submitted within a week and a half!).
  2. So what files is it that could be corrupted? is it the acctual OMA files or is there some files controlling the databases? I don't have my player here with me as I am in work and it is at home.
  3. So this is what has happened ... My NW-HD5H had lots of music on it, some was ripped from CDs through SonicStage 3.3 and 3.4. Others was mp3s that was transfered using sonicstage too. All the music files were stored on my NW-HD5H (my computers harddrive is tiny!). All files were working fine. I then upgraded to Sonicstage CP 4.0. After I had connected my NW-HD5H to the computer and SonicStage went through the whole artist link info and so on I disconnencted my player and a lot of my files will now not play when the player is disconnected from the computer. When I try to play them an error message appears on the lcd saying "track error, cannot play file" or something like that. When I just skip thorugh the files without playing them, all the files that cannot be played is missing information in the bottom left corner syaing what type of file it is (mp3, atrac, atrac3plus and so on). So ... I connected my player to the computer again, now remember, all my files are stored on the player, not the computer. When I now try to play the files through SS CP4 everything works fine. They come up with the correct file type (Mp3 and so on). It seems that this is only affecting files that was ripped from CDs but I'm not completely sure about this. Has anyone else had this problem?
  4. I'm still having problems with a great part of my music after updating to SS 4.0. Before updating, my NW-HD5H was working perfectly, I could play all my music. After updating to SS4.0 a lot of my files wont play unless the player is connected to my computer. I store all my files on the player itself as my computer doesn't have enough harddisk space. Is there any solution to this?
  5. After installing SS 4 a great number of tracks on my HD5 will not play anymore when the player is not connected to the computer. When I look at the files using the player LCD the compression method (you know MP3 160, Atrac3plus or whatever is used for the file) is missing. Funny thing is that when I connect the player to my computer I can play the file through SonicStage. I should add that I don't have a copy of my music on my computer, it is only on my player. I guess I have to delete all the bad files and reimport them ?!?! or does anyone have any idea how to sort this out? Cheers
  6. Ok, Update to my previous post ... It seems that the files I transfered from my device to my computer got lost somewhere. They are now gone from both my computer and device so I might have shouted too early
  7. I just updated to SS 3.3 after being quite annoyed with previous versions due to the fact that I couldn't copy files back to my computer from my device (as with many others I have a laptop with limited space so I've had to delete stuff from my libaray). I tried it first with the new version, same as ever it didn't work, then I tried to import songs to my library, you can now select your device as a disk (I don't think you could do that before). So I checked the box to import files form my device, I got asked if I wanted to copy the files as they were on a portable harddrive, I clicked no. It then went on and imported all my files, it took quite a while as there is a few thousand songs there, so my library now has all my files again (not the whole files but the info about them). I can now create and edit playlists on my computer and send them over to my device. But the best bit is still to come ... I can now transfer back any music file from my deivce back to my computer, doesn't matter if they are atrac or mp3s! Is this the way Sony meant it to be or will they send out a new version closing this user freedom? I sure hope they will keep it as is! Thank you very much Sony!!!
