Thanks Dinko and Stuge I am transfering CD to MP3 so that I can use them for non-Atrac devices too. I am putting them onto my HD5 in Atrac because it means the battery will last longer. I will have to grovel around behind the computer to find the 'real' USB port, but that's what I'll do next time Thanks again

Me again! I imported some of my CDs into SS, making them MP3@192kbps, they are taking-up just less than 6GB on my hard drive. I set it transfering to my HD5 at 7.15pm (1hr45 ago) and it's still only at 27% (they are converting to Atrac as they transfer, and through a USB 2.0 hub) I'm not sure if I should be worried about it or not! Should it be taking this long? Thanks.

Hello, I've done a search but haven't really found what I'm looking for. Please could people comment on good/bad/general features and compatibility of remote controls? I have an interest in ones that work with a HD5 (the search engine wont allow a search of 'HD5' because it is only 3 letters, so sorry if this has already been discussed) Thanks.

Thanks for that It didn't seem to do it if I just changed them in SS, but if I named them the same on import to SS then all was ok Bit odd - one CD album of 2 discs --- SS (or the auto-info thing) names them slightly differently and gives them different genres. eg- "The Best No 1 Singles In The World Ever" (General pop) and " Best No.1 Singles In The World... Ever" (Brit pop) I never did 'get' the whole genres 'thing'!!!

Hello, I got my first MP3 player (NW-HD5) for christmas and am putting my music on to it now I wanted to know if there is any way to 'merge' 2 albums? The reason being that I have lots of CDs with 2 discs, they come over as "Album(disc1)" and "Album(disc2)" but they are essentially just 1 album and I'd like them to be together.

I bought an HD5 yesterday I called the store to make sure they had a boxed one before I went to get it, they said yes. When I got home I found it already had quite a bit of music on it (many spelt wrongly) and I was wondering if this is right? I would expect to have been given a discount if it was one that had been returned to the shop for some reason (ie, second hand) especially since I asked for a 'new boxed' one (which I didn't expect to have any pre-loaded music). What do you guys think?

Hello, I'm yet to buy an mp3 player (but think I'll be getting a NW-HD5 this week) I found this on another site - click here I've heard bad things about sonicstage, is this a viable alternative? Can you see any pitfalls with it? Thanks, Jenni.

That looks almost perfect! New plan - Buy NW-HD5, buy MacAlly Podwave speaker, and enjoy music! Thankyou very much!

So a tiny speaker incased in a small homemade unit with a jack plug attached, sounds like a plan! Any idea where to buy a tiny speaker?

These are bigger than I was hoping to have - not really pocket sized. I have one of these, and it is very good but again, too big - I'm fussy! That's what I was afraid of! So it looks like I need to think of some other way. Do you think it would be possible to dismantle an old mobile phone and use the speaker to create my own tiny speaker that I could then somehow connect to an mp3 player? Thanks for your help so far

Hello, I'm for an MP3 player and would like to know if there are any players out-there that have internal speakers? (the quality of the sound thro the loud-speaker isn't important) I currently own a Sony-Ericsson K750i mobile phone with a 1mb memory card, I can play music on this over its built-in loud speaker, no cables. That is the kind-of function I am looking for in an MP3 player. Any ideas?

Exclusive ATRACLife NW-A3000 + NW-A1000 Review
Jenni replied to Christopher's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Hello, I am new to all this and am looking to buy my first mp3 player. I really like the Sony NW-HD5 but having read lots of info on the internet I feel put-off by the 'Sonic-Stage' software. I'd like to know if anyone thinks it's a possibility that if I buy a HD5, that I could at some point in the future, be able to use this (better?) Connect software with it? Do Sony have history of upgrading software and making it back-compatible? Thanks
