hey guys, i plan to get a 808! unfortunatelly it's currently out of stock but just concerning the ones with the price i like so my next question is about headphones. i read a little bit in this thread and the information i gathered, brings me to the opinion, that the a808 needs some warm headphones. would westone um1 be a great partner for the 808? As they were "warm" IEMs and the 808 is a little bit analytical ?

hey, tomorrow maybe i'll take the bait Unfortunatelly there's just cyperport who has a a808 in stock... mp3player.de lacks them... and i have the feeling that i hardly can wait another 14 days, since i'm on this decision for alreasy 2 month. what do you exactly mean with the following ? "t´s been a long time coming. And I don´t mean for Sony" okay...the player seems to be chosen, now the headphones will follow but this will be a new thread ! thx!!!

hey guys, first of all thank you @ceres: i just wondered why you gave me a link to a german site... but further investigations solved the riddle greetings !!! there were just the sony and cowon for competition, the samsung player can't convince me in terms of menu & haptics, it just looks like a polished business unit. thx for the frequency reponse this explains, the lack of bass! the new price for a 8gb model of the sony looks really interessting compared to the "only" 4 gb cowon ! do you own a sony ? @ riceb0i87 puh, luckily you saved it and thanks a lot for the link & the trouble connected with it !!! i'll try to get it & go on testing

Hi everyone, as i now plan to get a sony nw-a808 instead of the cowon d2, i wanted to do a last "test". The reason for changing my mind was a thread @ headfi.org. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=247441 They compared the D2 to the nw-a808 and many people had the impression, that the sony unit is the better sounding piece of electronic There is some last scepticism. I tested the sony in a shop and listened to all the pre-loaded demo tracks. My very first impression was overwhelming, but when it came to the climax of the rock song, i had the impression the sony is loosing preassure. To verify weather this is a song specific or a general problem, I wanted to know what the song was called, so that i can try this at home on my himd. Must be something with "mirror" or "shadow",... I remember DSP had a similar observance, when he compared the sony to a cowon f2... As i like rockmusic, this is very improtant to me Thx !!!

yeeha thx for that post ! alea jacta est...i will get one !!! as sony is to conservative to change their habits (SS,..) and the clix is rattling , the d2 will be now my number one. but to be honest, this little think was the icing on the cake http://shop.cowon.com/products/ishop_produ...Code=1170907829 thank again for your help zephir !!! it was a hard decision between those three, most notably because i wasn't really happy with the D2 in the beginning... as a german byword says, if two were on combat the third is glad...(don't know how the aquivalent translation is...)
-
hey zephir ! thx for your detailed post !!! the more i consider the pros & cons of the sony and iriver, the d2 is just getting more and more friendly to me... i read many threads about the d2 and most people say that it sound very analytical... how is this compared to the sony.. i have no clue if the sony has a warm soundcharakter or an analytical, at least it liked it what lacks the sony, that the d2 has ? bassreproduction ? is the EQ of the D2 working as well as the sony ? an answer referring to this would be very important to me !!!!! thanks in advance for your time ps: last question... is it right that if you use sd-cards with the cowon, the acculife is reduced by ~15h ?
-
what other functions are those ?? have you tested the iriver?
-
good morning to everyone...it's near afternoon right now first of all i wanna thank you for your great support !!! and @ angrybadger: thx for the compliment, but to be honest, http://dict.leo.org is a great little helper ! things that hold me off the clix 2 are basically the d-click navigation system ! it doesn't seem to have a great build quality and i fear, that clicking is extremely loud...maybe @ bangraman nice to have a person here that has both units, prepare to get pestered with questions i couldn't exactly figure out, weather the sony or the iriver has a better sound performance, regarding your post. considering the features, clix2 is certainly doing the race. whereas sonicstage is no problem..i'm using it for 4 years right now ! is it right, that the top plate of the clix 2 is rattling ? how many "play" is there ?
-
Hi Stuge, thx for the take in & the post ! I already filled my head up with information of those 2 players and read many many topics on both players. But I never found a comparision between those two...unfortunatelly ! Even for a direction I would be thankfull So if someone would say, take the Sony, it's the best unit in SQ you can get, I would be very thankfull :-D Btw...nice community in here !

Hi there, I'm looking for a new gadget and at the moment, there were 2 that i'm considering: 1) Sony NW-A806 2) Iriver Clix 2 I already had the possibility to test nr.1 Sound was amazing, but the only thing, I noticed was a lack of pressure in the "heavy-demo-track" on the player. Unfortunatelly I don't know how the track is called. This lack I mentioned is relates to the dynamic of the track not to the bass-reproduction. Maybe this is what DSP noticed, when he ""compared"" the Cowon F2 with the sony. Or is this just the character of the demo track ?! And as i couldn't test the SQ of the Clix 2 i'm a bit undecided Is there someone who has compared those two gadgets? Or has any experience with iriver & sony units so far ? Furthermore i wanted to know what colour you would recommend... I tend getting a white nw-a806 if it should be the Sony, but the surface structure is different from that of the black one. It seems to be rough ?!? And that's the problem... I fear, it could appear dirty after some time of use, as there is no "protectiv film" like on the black model. Thanks ahead (is this the right expression ? as you probably can see my english could need some improvement )
