  1. I also want to note that nano's are good but everyone has them, and who wants to be the same as everbody else.
  2. When i was deciding whether to buy an ipod nano or sony nw a. What threw me to get the sony was a review of the ipod nano saying it sounded exelent but not as good as a sony.
  3. i am about to receive a sony a806 and was wondering if it played variable bit rate aac. since this is what my music is encoded in.
  4. I have just ripped my music using itunes and imported it into SS and it just takes so long for it to get album information. On itunes it takes about 2 seconds and you dont have to scroll through this big list of different albums, some dont even have the album info that matches your cd completely. and then when it gives you a album picture it is a realy lame image that is a realy washed out of a photo taken of a realy old smashed up record cover. so i did what any nerd would do and went on the internet to find my own. sony make very good mp3 players but theire software is just so bad if they do not improve it and the time came to get another mp3 player it would not be a sony.
  5. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...userlocale=809# after listening to wma and mp3 at low bit rates i could realy never use mp3 knowing that there are other better things out there. i have decided upon aac at 160 kbps. I suppose i cant realy go wrong with this.
  6. i am about to rip my music to the computer using ITUNES at 160 kbps AAC however i am wondering wether i should use variable bit rate. i just want the best sound with not too large filesize, which is why i chose 160 kbps. any views or opinions would be helpfull.
  7. have you tried plugging it in and under the transfer tab at the top/ the left side of the blue bar select your mp3 player highlight the albums you want to transfer and click the arrow button between the two boxes. if that did not work your mp3 player might be broken and need replacing. I know someone who is having this problem with an ipod nano which they are exhanging
  8. I have heard 20 kilobyte mp3 compared to 20 kb wma and i can safely say that the other formats are leages ahead of mp3 in terms of sound quality per megabyte. i am currently deciding wether i should use ITUNES to rip music and then import it using sonic stage. can you just drag and drop the files into the sony nw a806 without any software like you can the psp. i have heard you cant but if someone could confirm this it would be good.
  9. i have ordered a sony nw a806 mp3 player and was wondering what format was best for encoding music. from my tests i have done i have concluded that AAC is better than WMA, however i cannot realy tell much of a difference between AAC and atrac 3, although i did think that atrac 3 sounded clearer at lower bit rates. i have asked someone else to do the listening test and they were able to constantly pick out between 160 and 192 kilbytes per second in AAC and WMA. they say that AAC is better than atrac 3 so i think i will trust them. also does the encoding software make a difference, the AAC files done with itunes are smaller than those of the same bit rate done with sonic stage somehow.
  10. thankyou for replying, it has worked i had to make i had to make the album things into thumbnail form first though. i hope that these images will transfer to my player when it arrives. but in the mean time i will test it out on my psp. THANKS
  11. I have just placed an order for a sony nw a806, and have just downloaded sonic stage, because i thaught id get to grips with it before the mp3 player arrived. i have ripped some music using sonic stage and used it to move it to my psp. however there is no album art when i use sonic stage. when i used windows media player it saved the album art
