You seem to have the right info on what each series is: You most likely won't want the E series. From what I have read it only comes in 2, 4, and 8 GB versions. And you are right...made of plastic. The S series and the A series share basically the same specs, just the A series has an internal bluetooth, but no FM radio. Bluetooth jacks up the price of the 16 GB model. They do look different though. Some of the S series (US availability) have a built in noise canceling technology...not exactly sure about that, but in the US (Sonystyle.com) are only available up to an 8 GB version. However they have released a 16 GB model (the nwz s639) outside of the US. I have actually just ordered one out of the UK. No built in bluetooth, but sony makes an adapter for this if it is necessary. Also has that aluminum case with a molding of plastic that goes around the outside. I also believe (someone can correct me if I am wrong) that there is no SonicStage compatibility with any of the models with a "z" (NWZ-****) Anything with a NW-**** I think still works with Sonicstage. All of these players are drag and drop via the software which is bundled with the unit or you can use WMP. Kind of unfortunate for me, as there are plenty of gripes about sonicstage (hence sony phasing it out) but I was used to it and got proficient with it...only to change to WMP now.

Not sure if you have found one yet but here is one on ebay...advertised free shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/CLEAR-CRYSTAL-CASE-for...93%3A3|294%3A50 Also there is a silicon case which covers up the buttons, but no hard shell. I can imagine you could modify that ebay one though to cover the buttons and still have them function.

Ok so I have been doing some researching to see if there are any other options for a line out other than the not very portable cradle or the expensive bluetooth option for these flash players (assume that the NWZ-6** players would be included in this...?) There have seem to be statements that contradict a product that is out there, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this product or can confirm anything about this? Statement...by Simon Grafftey...is at the very bottom of this link... http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=lineout And then there is this product by Sunto which says the Line out lead IS part of the WM port and their product uses this to go around the internal amp (only made for NW players...could this include NWZ too or is there a pin difference?) http://cgi.ebay.ca/OFFICIAL-Suntac-chargin...Q2em118Q2el1247 The only thing is I've heard that this product does not act as a true "Line Out," ie the volume buttons can still be used to change the level of the player, which would seem to me it would just be using the WM port as a headphone jack, which seems useless. Although would this change if it was connected via L/R cable with a phone jack into the line out instead of a dual sided jack? Can anyone confirm anything about this product or enlighten me? I know line out topics have been covered before and some say there is a set line out (in the test mode) which is not convenient to get to, but I'm trying to get to the bottom of this (I just bought a NWZ-S639, seems to be not a lot of info) which I will use to hook up to external speakers and my car stereo to replace the HD5 which I had stolen...

One other thing I've heard since the player does not have a dedicated Line Out option from the menu, I hear there is a dock which would would for home and such, but I will take my music in my truck a lot. I've heard that there is a bluetooth line out option that you can plug in to the unit? If this is true where can these be gotten? I will do all necessary to figure out a line out option for portability.

Hey thanks for the reply glad about the positives of this unit. The UI should be alright to get used to. i had the A3000 for a while until I broke the volume slider. I have a remote to change that so it will work for the time being. One other question the A3000 is notoriously slow for searching I'm guessing this flash based unit is much quicker?

Hey thanks for the above reply! Yeah I am excited about the unit. I purchased it new from a seller/store on ebay for 69.99 pounds (sorry not sure how to do the symbol thing), shipped to the US! That is about $114 US.I could not believe it as they go for a lot more usually. About the standalone charger I know it is a USB port and only charges via computer, but I have heard rumors that the charger for the nwa-3000 (and similar series) works to charge it from a wall jack (plug the USB into the transformer....). I guess I'll have to see when it gets here.. Anyway, thanks for the update keep posted if you learn anything else about the unit!

I live here in the US and am looking at purchasing this flash player. As I explored the forums I would like to possibly confirm some things before I go ahead. First is the volume limit. There seems to be no solid answer if this can be turned off once in test mode. I would be purchasing it from the UK, which I have heard that it comes off or on depending on the case. I'm hoping to hear that I can change this if necessary... I have also read that France is the real concern so I don't plan on purchasing it from there. Am I safe getting it from the UK? Also I had the HD5 which was stolen (the reason for this replacement) and loved it because of the Line Out function for vehicles and home stereos. I'm under the impression this unit will not have that? If so how is the sound quality when put through a system? The line out was nice because it was made for higher output.... Anyway thanks for the time hopefully I can hear some good news...
