  1. Back on topic... All I want for Christmas is an NW-HD1 with a 32 gig slab of Flash memory instead of the HD. Oh and maybe a slightly better screen. Audio only! Thanks...
  2. I have just updated, the database converter took an age but hey, no problems. Thanks for the heads up, I would usually look for updates at DNA support but not anymore!! How are people finding DSEE? Black Eyed Peas @ 352kbps, sounded superb I like it
  3. Having spent some time reading peoples experiences with this player on CV im in two minds. your HD3 will wipe the floor with the VP for sure in terms of battery life for a start, its also quite a bit bigger than your current Walkman. go for a PSP I say. And for me the size, sound & battery life of the NW-HD range is enough to make schmipod owners feel cheated.
  4. LOL I use random pretty much all the time, best way to listen to all your collection I think, 5000+ tracks makes for some interesting combinations, especially when the odd classic line from a soundtrack CD pops up between songs lol Currently listening to.... Goldie - Timeless Timeless (i Inner City Life, ii Pressure, iii Jah) (21:02) Saint Angel (7:17) State Of Mind (7:06) Sea Of Tears (12:04) Angel (4:58) Sensual (8:13) Kemistry (6:50) You & Me (7:02) Atrac3+ 256kbps for the smilies :-)
  5. Massive Attack - Karmacoma Adam F - Circles Aphex Twin - Widow Licker The Prodigy - Breathe Random play is so the way forward
  6. Im guessing you had SS 2.x before you upgraded? I went from 3.2 to 3.3 and didnt have to do anything. Anyway if all your tracks are in SS on the PC? all you need to do is transfer them back to the PC then format the player then re transfer back to the HD. Im guessing but I think you have to reset the unit because SS 3.x organises the tracks slightly differently than 2.x. Incedentally, I have formatted my player player without transfering anything back first & SS has automatically done it anyway. Stick with it though, 3.3 is the best version yet! once your sorted you will see.
  7. When you rip a track from CD/Download @ 128kbps thats is all you will ever get from the file, yes the file size will be bigger for the 192 copy because of the higher sampling rate but the actual music info is the same as the previous file. double conversion also only serves to degrade the sound quality further. Leave your 128k files alone and rip to 192 or whichever higher quality setting you choose. Atrac lossless preferrably lol C
  8. I used it on my HD1, worked a treat another benefit I found by accident, I use a tunecast in my car but the line out setting on the HD1 was too much for the transmitter and it clipped badly, now with the volume set to max on the player the sound quality in the car is great! Previously tried this but with the limiter still on and even with the incar volume set high it was just too noisy, not sure what it will do to the battery life but hey lol its worth it. Thanks for the info
  9. Drum & Bass, Breaks, Progressive..... anything with a beat really
