what tmeg said above was right...there is hardly any difference between the SP and LP2 tracks in terms of bitrate when transferred from SonicStage via USB -> MD...listening to them also it's hard to tell the difference...but otherwise i would think that they are both 132kbps ATRAC3 tracks that have different instructions enaling track A to be read on a non-MDLP capable unit and track B to be played in a MDLP capable player...
-
newest would probably be Type S...the differences are slight but i would say that Sony's one is a little better than the rest of the bunch...
-
sharp use a diff version of Sony's atrac that they developed...Aiwa is under Sony management so i would expect they use the same ATRAC...panasonic use their own one called HDES or something if i recall correctly...i think Sharp's and Sony's are the most advanced atm...Sony having the edge...
-
yep...Type S is the latest ATRAC offering from Sony...
-
i own an N10 and could wish for the battery life to be more longer...other than that the unit is light but it doesn't really concern me much as i use my MD player most of the time when i'm not recording...Sony's sound also isn't as nice as Sharp units IMO...the battery i've already said was weak and it is internal so u can't swap it out when it dies down when u'r doing something such as recording....
-
i use Adobe Audition...
-
another MD forums kinda like this one...but it started out a LONG time before this one was up...
-
it's not Mac OS X...i just skinned win xp using windowsblinds so that it makes it look like that...otherwise use virtual pc loaded with winxp on it and install sonicstage that way...that's basically the only other way that i can think of to get Sonicstage onto Mac...

MZ-n707 Remote + Accessories Compatability
mAjEsTiC replied to NightHawk66's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
1) practically any remote will work on it save the ones wit radio tuners...so remotes such as the RM-MC11EL/12ELK/33EL/35ELK will work on it fine... 2) u could just get like a case logic case for it? though it's going to be bigger than the one that came bundled with it, it wil still protect the MD nonetheless...otherwise get one of those neoprene cases that sony sell for the MD...they'r a bit on the expensive side though (well for a case neway) 3) nope...unless you want to do a hardware mod and get an EL display for the unit with exactly the same icons... -
:?: :?: :?: the hell?!?!?!?! neway sorry to hear that ur experiencing problems with your MD but i really have no idea bout y the MD would do this unless the MD discs themselves were screwed in the first place...

tmeg already has kinda answered part a) of ur q's..i'll just exapand a bit about what i said earlier...what i meant is as SP when recorded normally w/o transferring using USB it will be encoded in ATRAC (using Type R ATRAC DSP) which will theoretically sound better than that done through SP via SonicStage as this is about LP2 quality ATRAC3 format but yes i agree with what tmeg has to say about it not sounding that bad...as for part here i go : For SonicStage : by just clicking on the Menu button on the bottom left then go to Options...from there there should be an option on the left box called Location to save the recorded files...clicking on that will show you where SonicStage puts them....just copy and paste that directory into Windows Explorer and go to that directory and delete all the .omg files there...
-
i can't recall the name for the software that comes bundled with the PC link that sony makes but that would title directly to the unit...although if you have a NetMD just use SOnicStage/OpenMG etc...
-
well basically you can find this option before you are about to transfer from your Music Drive to your Device Media...there will be a box at the top in the middle that will look like this : just click on that tool icon there where i've highlighted (to the right of where it says normal)... it should then pop up a box that look similar to this : just click on the SP option down the bottom (highlighted) and click ok...it should encode and transfer over files in SP mode now...
-
uploading can't be done faster than real-time through USB i'm afraid...that's is one of the main downfalls of NetMD's thus far...
-
not to my knowledge i don't think...you have to have two seperate units to be able to do this...i'm not entirely sure if the mini systems that have Tuner/MD/CD/Tape capabilities will allow recording from MD->Tape...
-
yep it will work...i use a non-powered mic to the MIC IN of my N1 and N10 units when i record concerts and lectures and it's fine so long as you adjust the levels before hand...but i get decent quality regardless of using MIC IN or LINE IN...if it were me i would prefer that the unit had a MIC IN jack... i don't get any distortion (or very little) in my recordings thus far and yes adjusting the recording levels does help take care of that...
-
i don't think it can do this i'm afraid...since both of these units don't have a timer function..
-
yep...of course... i think it's fixed...u can't do any alterations while making a digital recording...
-
did you try re-installing the software and drivers??
-
use SimpleBurner when you transfer files across...this gets rid of practically all your problems of being restricted to use a PC to do a disc erase etc...that and i don't think there is a check out limit on it (i havn't run into any for the time being)...use the Nero + SimpleBurner trick that has been outlined in the forums and you should be good to go...
-
u can create SP mode thru NetMD via SonicStage/OpenMG but it is not true SP...what it is rather is a higher bitrate LP2 track that gets recognised by the MD unit as an SP track...u don't get the full bitrate of SP recorded from cables...
-
nope...they'r still there...what SonicStage does however is create a copy of the file in ATRAC3 format that the NetMD recognises and is also stroed on your hdd...
-
mo the 11EL doesn't have the specialised group buttons like on the 33EL...did you mean the one that comes with the car kit on some of the models? not too sure if they sell them but you could take a look @ the Sony website in ur region...
-
all MD recorders have optical input except for the NetMD downloaders (the NE series from Sony and the new Aiwa units)...and yep so long as there is a light coming through the TOSLink output and u can hear sound (and get a connection on the MD) then u'll be able to record...
-
hmmm...i would choose the R700 if i didn't need NetMD functionality that much...but yeh out of the two units i think i would have chosen the R700 because of the advantages it has over the N505 (i need a MIC IN for recording)...
