  1. um...shouldn't the SP in OpenMG/SonicStage be a slightly enhanced LP2 mode (i.e. higher bit rate LP2 ATRAC3 compression)??? rather than it being LP2 quality exactly??? since that's how the bit rate is approx. shown in the program...(lower than "true" SP but slightly higher than LP2...)
  2. hmmm...no matter...IMO joint-text has become redundant to the titling capabilities done through NetMD + CDDB newayz...(i use this most of the time and hardly ever use my CD player...and since my Discman and MD units are of different brands, it's of no concern to me)
  3. probably just a difference in volume levels according to the power of the output amps...
  4. i think the N10 has this feature as well but it's not advertised... basically a player just plays MD's and cannot record...a recorder can record...a NetMD capable (the new Sony unit is a player or recorder??? since it doesn't have any other recording functionalities other than to transfer mp3's across) recorder can record music from PC -> MD and not the other way around despite the misleading info on the MD package...and the recorder can record from various sources without a mic...such as a hifi system or a set top DVD player (through digital/analogue means)...
  5. yup i agree with sudden above...do the editing after you've recorded on the hdd...makes life easier...you could also use a program such as Adobe Audition...simple yet effective program IMO...
  6. i would probably recommend u to take a look at the DR580 unit...very nice unit...making me want to get one... and i'm not too sure about Core Sound mics since i'v never used them...i'm sure they're pretty good...
  7. get a Sharp recorder (any would be fine since they're all really good recorders ~ depending on you're budget will depend on the model but even the cheapest one is sufficient enough to meet your demands i would think...unless u're planning on using this as a pro recording then i'm not too sure) but for mics generally i use either Sennheisers or Sony...again doesn't really matter which one but look for the ones that support Plug-In power (i.e. non-powered amp) and whether or not they're omni-directional, uni-directional etc...models that i use from Sony include the ECMDS70P, ECMMS907 and ECMZS90...all are very good for recording...
  8. the N910 uses a high capacity (1450mAh min) NiMH Gumstick battery as opposed to the internal Li-Ion (340mAh??) that the N10 uses...both r small but the N10 is smaller and lighter than the N910 due to the internal battery...everything else feature wise is more or less the same...expect there's one extra feature in the N910's "Power" Options in the Menu that's not there on the N10...dunno what it does tho...N10 is the flagship model and a Special Edition 10th Anniversary Model from Sony...followed by the N910 which i wouldn't really call a flagship model as it is missing the cradle that u hook the USB connection up from PC -> MD (the USB mini plug goes straight into the unit whereas on the N10 u put it in a cradle)...the NE810 is a mid range model...uses a NiMH Gumstick battery but of lower capacity if i'm not mistaken....(uses the NW10 as compared to the NW14 on the N910)...both the N910 and N10 are almost identical units...with a few things that is different (either added features or removed features) they can be classified as a high end model...
  9. this is the way that i do it...i can't think of a program that can do this automatically or faster than real-time... yup i agree... well it's transfering through analogue and not digital since that recorder doesn't have an Optic out jack (only recorder that i've used with one was the MZ-R1 back in '93) or u can use a home deck if you have one to transfer via optical...so yes u would lose "some sound quality if ur using normal cables...some of the more professional (albeit expensive) analogue cables preserve much (if not all) of the analogue signal that it's nearly as good as a digtal recording via TOSLink...
  10. nothing actually...i'm claiming it back on the warranty...
  11. yup i'v played on the N-Gage...a friend of mine bought one and i really really dislike it...not very comfy when playing...and yup they've basically set an approx release date of the PSP...
  12. Sony and panasonic plugs for the MD's r quite similar...so so long as they output the correct voltage i think ur safe to use them...since for a time i used a Panasonic adaptor to charge up a Sony MD unit without any problems...
  13. yep i agree...i use the foam pads for any of my earbuds and they do a great job keeping them in place if u do a short sprint for a bus or something...but if you want to go jogging i think the Street Style headfones that go around the back of the head are best suited for this as they hardly get in the way or fall off (since my friends use these when they go jogging...) i've seen many ppl use normal earbud when jogging so i think it's not that much of a problem...
  14. As far as i know only Harvey Norman and "some" smaller stores actually do stock up on Sharp units...the DR480 may be a little hard to find though since Sharp doesn't really have a big foothold on the MD market here in Aus...as woppin said above if you want something cheaper go and look at importing directly from either Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore (though in Hong Kong things aren't that much cheaper nowdays anyway...)...if say Dick Smith or Harvey Norman do stock up on the Sharp unit and u find it cheaper elsewhere they will usually match or even beat the price you give them...I usually buy from stores such as HomeZone in Sydney or G&V Imaging...these two stores offer pretty competitive prices regarding MD units and best of all u can always get a cheaper price if ur willing to bargain...
  15. yup this will damage the battery...
  16. good pt...i realli realli dislike the N-Gage a LOT...
  17. same...would make it soooo conveneient if they implement this feature...
  18. ah ok then um take a look at the new DR580 unit from Sharp which can c here...otherwise take a look at the Sony MZ-N910 or the Sony MZN-N10...
  19. are the titles in english and get like shown on the import playlist part???
  20. rip it to hdd and then record it...
  21. i use the E888's and EX71's...both come recommended...and as for the 1's u mentioned above they're pretty reasonable as well...
  22. i'd suggest u take a look at the new range of Sharp units....they look very promising...
  23. u can use a small + free program such as mp32md to transfer music across using optical...
