  1. I recently acquired a MZ-N10 last month. It's been doing great as a NetMD recorder, but I'd like to start using it for lecture recording and capturing other sounds... however this won't be a full time gig for it, so I was wondering what mics would be good to get started with (ie. not a ton of money but worthwhile)? I've read all the stuff about Sony's and automatic gain control, etc... Anyone have good experience with particular mics with Sony MD portables, or even more specifically the N10? Thanks..
  2. If you look at the link posted by OBI1, you'll find that the N10 is indeed being released in the US.
  3. It's nice to see that the official US release of the N10 is coming soon and that they're not leaving the US MD market soon. Though more non-portable equipment would be great too (more decks, boombox systems, mini-shelf, etc.) *sigh* I showed my N10 portable to to my boss and he was impressed by the size and design of the unit. Of course, he's a Mac user and iPod owner so it's a tough sell for him. On top of that, no Mac software available yet (if ever). They really need to work on that... anyone know whether or not the RealOne player for OS X would even support downloading to a NetMD device? Guessing not due to lack of OS drivers, but ya never know..
  4. Thanks for the update. I was never sure if that was normal. The first track to be recorded always works great, but after that... not so. I guess I would have to use analog recording to make the playlist one track? Or do you know of another way to trick the player into not creating those track marks? Too bad the recorder isn't quicker at restarting the recording... oh well, I can live with it.
  5. I've had this problem for a while now, and I wonder if it's something on the PC side or my MD: I load up a playlist of singles I'd like to transfer to MD via the Xitel DG-2 USB audio adapter. So everything records, track marks are inserted properly and life is good... though not perfect. The recorder tends to cut off the first second or 2 of a track as it creates that new track mark and I lose bits of songs. It's generally annoying and I don't know of any way of getting around it. I didn't think I'd need to insert silence tracks because I am recording digitally and the track marks are added automatically. Any ideas/tips? Using Sony MZ-R700 with Xitel DG-2. Using Linux :-D
  6. Anybody have any ideas as to why a MZ-R700 portable would refuse to stop charging a battery anymore? My roommate's portable just stopped doing this a week or so ago for no apparent reason. I tried my own rechargable battery and it didn't work for him either. The only thing that was done recently was the much talked about "wild" hack to add some R900 features. I did the same to my R700 and everything is still fine on my R700. Thoughts?
