  1. The WAV importer ONLY works with the MZ-M100 and MZ-M10. The Hi-MD music Transfer for MAC will be a totally different software and that will be release during the summer and that will work with the RH1 (and probably with all Hi-MD's). Let's put it in another way: the WAV importer, M10 and M100 belong to Sony Professional the Hi-MD music transfer for MAC and the RH1 and NH1 belong to Sony Consumer
  2. That is another mistake in the info... there is NO jog-dial, there is a jog-lever (a button you can move up to go forward or down to go back or press to confirm your choice)
  3. That would be a real pain in the ..... because a Japanese version will only install on a Japanese version of Windows. Furthermore the English version of SonicStage (version 3.4.02.14020) that you need to take full advantage of the features of the RH1 is still not available via Sony Support sites. I had to get my version via my contacts @ Sony. And yes, you also need new PA-drivers. Probably they are the same for JP as for the EU but probably if you get a Japanse CD with Japanese installer it will not install automatically. Probably you have to install them manually.
  4. I don't know why you think the mp3-playback-problem with the RH10 has something to do with SonicStage because the only thing SonicStage does is copying the mp3's to an MD. Furthermore the MZ-RH1 I'm currently testing has flawless mp3-playback (as compared with the RH10). So it is defenately NO SonicStage issue but a problem with the units that playback the mp3's.
  5. So your RH1 will be imported from Japan. That might be possible yes. We will publish our review of the (prototype) RH1 early next week so maybe you can check if and what the differences will be between the prototype we tested and the actual Japanese model.
  6. I hope you will not be disappointed because the MZ-RH1 will arive in Europe only in May. The 20th of april is the release-date for Japan, not for Europe.
  7. My RH10 already manages to playback wav-files gapless when listening via headphones. Nothing special.
  8. Hopefully by the end of this week or early next week. It depents for the greatest part on when I get the official software that will be supplied with the RH1. Probably tomorrow I will get the CD-rom via mail and than I will need some days to test all the new functions in the software and have to add the findings to the review. Furthermore we want to launch an English version at the same time I release the (originally) Dutch version. Richyhu is working on that so he will also need some time after I have finished the review. You were a little bit faster
  9. Sorry people but I have to correct myself on one statement I made earlier. When I got the RH1 to test we briefly tested the 3-line remote (RM-MC40ELK) with the RH1 and at first sight not all lines seemed to be supported to we stated the RH1 doesn't support the 3-line remote. Sadly it was at the trainstation so we were in a bit of a hurry. Today however Richyhu payed us a visited and he had also a RM-MC40ELK with him so we were able to test it a little bit more and it appeared that there is FULL support for the remote but that in just the one displaymode we tested not all lines were used. In our final review I will include a picture of the RH1 with the remote connected when all lines of the remote are in use (to give you final proof). Sorry for the wrong info we gave on that one.
  10. This is unknown at this moment. Therefor I have sent this question (along with some others) to Sony. I hope to get a defenitive answer soon so that I can incorporate these answers in my RH1 (p)review that I want to get online at the end of this week.
  11. Nice those Babelfish technical translations from Japan. They generatie more misunderstandings than real info. The RH1 has NO memorycardslot and there is NO such thing as a 2 GB Hi-MD.
  12. If you read the topic thoroughly you would have had already some of these questions answered but ok, here we go: 1) How compatible it will be with MAC is still unknown. I've seen some "plans" for it at I can tell the support they aim at is much more thorough than we already know from the M10 and M100 model. However it will NOT be a complete MAC-based SonicStage alternative. 2) In Europe we will get the MAC-tool too so an English version seems to be a must. 3) You mean for MAC? As the software isn't ready yet, this question cannot be answered yet. See also the answer to question 1. 4) Yes, there is no difference in recordingformat between Sony and Sharp so a MD-device doesn't know which brand was used to record it. 5) Names are indeed uploaded (I speak for SonicStage on PC however, for MAC still unknown). 6) Yes, on the fly recording-level-adjustment possible.
  13. That would be easier but for those who don't use the "on the fly" swap of batteries it would only make the unit larger than neccessary.
  14. It does not upload NetMD stuff at all. When trying to upload such a recording you just get an errormessage.
  15. You can upload even when the discs are write-protected so no risc of loosing recordings in any way. So because you can upload a write-protected disc NOTHING will change. You can also upload the recordings unlimited times and the uploaded recordings have NO DRM-restrictions (unlimited WAV-conversion, ATRAC-CD burning, audio-CD-burning, playback and so on). And to answer the next question: when uploading 1 recording separated in more than one track (so divided by trackmarks) there are NO hickups in the transistion between the tracks when playing in SS or when putting the WAV-files together again as 1 file. This is true for all types of recordings (SP, LP2 and LP4).
  16. Remembering some settings is a totally different thing to full operation without a battery. Full operation would require about a 100 mA by 3.7 Volts when PCM recording. If you want to change the battery you need at least 10 seconds so that would be 3.7 Watts of power to store. When knowing that the charge on a condensator equals its capacity x the voltage over it and that 1 coulomb (unity of charge) equals the energy to generate 1 Ampere for 1 second. This would result in a capacitor of about 2,9 Farad. Then I let you see this picture (which is "only" a 2 Farad condensator): Would that fit into the RH1???? p.s. you mention disabling a lot of functions to save power but how could the RH1 prepare for a battery-swap when it doesn't know exactly when it would happen. Even more where would you store 10 seconds of music to store later? So I would say: sweet dreams.
  17. Sadly that isn't provided with a standard USB-connector. Tested the external powering without Li-ION inserted: works great! Only I don't know how long it will remember it's recording settings and clock without internal powering. That data isn't gone immediately I saw but It will nog be there forever without any powering. Conclusion: batterypower without the need af a Li-ION: possible. Can't hear any backgroundnoise with the RH1. Probably because it uses the same amplifier as the NH1 p.s. also ordered today the components to make my first "prototype" batterypack. Because I could order via wholesale it just costs me about 3 euro's for an USB-kabel with mini-plug, box for holding 4 AA batteries, a zener-diode and 2 resistors. Adding a bit of love and work.... et viola! p.s.2. for those who want to try this themselves: accidentally changing the polarity of the USB power will kill the connected device immediately. Therefor I will release an article soon with the detailed plans and some ready made off the shelve alternatives for those who are not very into DIY.
  18. By the way, was anyone searching for an alternative to the dry-battery-case? http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Son...B-BATADPT01.htm or http://www.bixnet.com/usbbatterybox.html And if you search further you will probably find more. And for those who want to make a DIY-project out of it: with one resistor and one zener-diode you can fix it yourself. I even tested it with the RH1 and it works! With 4x 2500 mAh Ni-MH batteries you will get anything from about 33 hours of PCM recording up till 125 hours of LP4 playback out of one simple box. And the nice thing: it will power all kinds of USB-devices.
  19. It is available and it is called DPC (Digital Pitch Control).
  20. A prerecorded disc is easy for the unit to destinguish from a recorded one so it would be an easy selection-criteria.
  21. Don't have one to test it but probably nothing will happen.
  22. Totally offtopic! And don't shout at us! Please create a new thread.
  23. The SP files are uploaded into Hi-SP or PCM format. After that you can export it to wav or convert it to whatever you like.
  24. There are a lot of people begging for this feature now for many years so finally their prayers have been heard! (they all want to archive their old MD-recordings e.g. on audio-CD)
