  1. Regarding the recording level, I know that my Sharp 888 keeps the setting in memory when I stop the recording /and / or shut off the unit. Is it also the case with Sony's ? (I think not). That could be very annoying when recording "on the field", if you need to go back somewhere in a menu to adjust level, every time you change the media or shut off the unit. On the other hand, Sharp's do not have an automatic level feature, (read you have to adjust level all the time) and that can be useful also in some cases.
  2. To help you, we need to know how do you record your band exactly. Using a mike ? My guess is that you need to check your mike/preampli system, your MZR70, as any MD recorder, is definitely able to record loud sounds.
  3. >>>any good condenser mic. will do I disagree We need some more information on the kind of interviews but... I work (in France) as sound professionnal in radio and tv for years. For "on the field" recordings of interviews, by someone who work alone (ie the same guy asks questions and hold the mike, not wearing headphones to control the sound quality), we would give him a dynamic omnidirectionnal mike, and tell him to put it as close of the mouth of the hero as he can. We use sometime different mikes for tv because we try to avoid the microphone appearing on the image. But check on your tv what kind of mikes the radios are using when there is a common radio/tv interview.
