I didn't realize there was anywhere you could buy these remote controls separately. Can you tell me where? thanks.. Tom

If there was something better or as versitile, I'd switch. But I don't see it!

I have finally figured out how to name a group on my MZ-RH1 minidisc. But when I upload to Sonic Stage, the group name is not retained in SS? How can I do this? Thanks... Tom PS ... This is the second time I have posted this Q. The first time it did not show up on the board!

So, please, tell me Sourmilkmoon, step by step, how you get the podcast to your MD... Please? Thanks..

I love my minidisc recorder and often record radio broadcasts with it from my stereo hifi receiver. However, I often hear about "pod casts". Is it possible to download a podcast to my minidisc player/recorder and listen to it? Or must I have an IPod? Thanks.. Tom

A440: bad news... Now it doing the same thing... I move the files to My Library, then to a play list, then I combine the tracks, then I "save as .wav file, and I get the error report: "Cannot save in WAV format". What is going on now?!! Thanks.. Tom

A440: Good news! Your suggestion seems to be working for me. One last glitch: When I attempt to transfer a file(s) to My Library, specifically into a particular play list that I have opened, the file(s) don't go the the play list... but to the "All Files" list! I can than open "All Files" and copy the files to the play list... but this last step seems unnecessary... Am I doing something wrong? thanks.. Tom

Hi LP Stereo is what I'm recording in ... on an 80 min standard disc. ... I'll try the other suggestions now... sounds like good suggestions!... Thanks.. Tom

None of the tracks will transfer... the error message comes up with each individual track. However, the tracks do play through sonic stage in the Transfer window... before trying to transfer to the Library... Thanks.. Tom

Rich: I just tried my same procedure using a new recording in its original format... that is before trying to delete track markers. I got the same error report message: "cannot save in WAV format". I was hoping my problem was with my deleting the track markers. But that doesn't seem to be the problem. Just thought I'd let you know this additional information. Tom

Rich: There is a lot of information in the rules... terms I don't understand, etc. Don't know if I'm up to all this.... I do note that most of those rules, comments apply to version 3.0 + . I have now installed ver. 4. The sony web site seems to say that ver. 4 is for the kind of uses I want. However, the rules do mention the following: "Editing tracks on your HiMD before uploading has been known to cause issues with uploading with virtually all versions of SonicStage. The lesson here: if you will be uploading your recordings, do not add or remove trackmarks on the HiMD recorder itself before uploading." I have violated this rule!! maybe that is my problem! Here is what I am trying to do: I do two types of recordings on my MZ-NH1: 1) I record radio broadcasts from my FM/AM receiver connecting to the line-in of my MZ-NH1. 2) Live recordings using a mic plugged into the mic input on the MZ-NH1. I have always had my MZ-NH1 set to place track marks at 6 minutes intervals. I do this for easier access to tracks deep into the recordings. Then, when I am ready to try to upload my recording to my computer (Windows) using Sonic Stage ver. 4, I delete all the track markers on the NZ-NH1 recording with the intent of getting one long recording on my PC so I can later insert track marks where I want them. Maybe I should upload the file with the original track marks and try to remove the track remarks later once uploaded? Don't know if this is any better explanation of my problem... Thanks for any reply.. Tom

I've installed version 4.0 of Sonic Stage. I connect my himed Sony recorder and the tracks are displayed in the transfer window; then I try to transfer the track to My Library and it completes 100% and,,, the last second I get an error message saying the file won't convert.. doesn't say why. Can you help me correct this problem?? Thanks... Tom

I love my MZ-NH1 for daily recording of radio programs. I love the idea of recording live concerts and music work shops, then uploading to my computer and then burning CDs. However, I hate using Sonic Stage 3.0 to upload my live recordings to my PC... because, as I understand SS, it automatically erases the Minidisc recording as it uploads to the PC. I can't take the risk of erasing my precious recording in hopes that I'll be able to eventually burn to CD!!! Several times, I've lost the whole thing!! Question, Is SS version 3.4 any better in this regard? If so, I'll be very happy!!

I've had my MZ-NH1 for several weeks now and love it. I've gotten use to using the remote control for most functions. Thought I'd learn how to delete single files using the controls on the main unit without the remote. Also tried to turn off the group function... But I can't get into the menu from the main unit deep enough to find the "REC OFF" ("GroupREC Off") commands! I can only get to the "REC Set" ... "REC Mode"... "Hi-LP"... can't get to the "REC OFF" sub-menu!! What am I missing??? I can't do this on the remote either! Same problem with trying to get to the delet sub-menue. I can do that OK from the remote, but not the main unit. I can get to the Edit-Erase-Track Erase... from the remote, but not on the main unit! Any help??? what am I missing?? Thanks... Tom

Dex: I downloaded SS ver. 3. It seems to have an option under Settings where you can save the dowload to your hard drive as wav files. That is, it seems to convert the files to wav format and save them to the hard drive. I presume these files can be burned to CD as back up.... although the orig. has at that point been erased. But at least the back up is done and it was not done in real time. that seems pretty nice to me... what do you think? Tom

Thanks Dex... I'll give that a try.. Tom

When I have multiple tracks transferred when uploading using SonicStage, I can't seem to get them transferred with new names... how do you do this?

Why is this the wrong forum to post at? This is the software forum, isn't it??

I can record a great concert on my new Sony NH1. ... I have installed SonicStage, HiMDRenderrer, and Audacity. Theoretically, I should be able to upload the live recording to my computer with Sonic Stage, then convert my multitrack live recording to one wave file using the "batch" feature of HIMDRenderer, then use Audacity to edit and create separate wave files for each song. Then I'll use Nero to burn a great CD.... unfortunately, its not that easy. I've spent many hours trying to get this straight and still... no luck. Here are some of my problems: 1. With Sonic Stage, I can’t seem to transfer the files and rename the tracks... they are always untitled(1),(2) etc... There are a couple of places where I try to rename the tracks as a group, but they always come out "Untilted (1),(2), etc. HiMDRenderer Questions: 1. Can’t change the name of the trac! The remain Untitled(27); Untitled (28)! (same problem as #1 above); 2. When I use HiMDRenderer, I’m supposed to designate the “input” and “output” sources...; but when I use the “Batch” mode, I lose the input/output options; Therefore, I'm unsuccesful when I try to direct the newly processed files to a new file folder! They all end up in the same file.... very cluttered and undecernable! 3. The purpose of Batch mode is to designate many files that you want to join together to eliminate track separations... It doesn’t seem to work to accomplish this end... what am I doing wrong??? after Rendering, the widow tells me they are "all processed"... but I only find individual track/files... not one long file with all the individual tracks joined as one... ready for editing. I must be doing a bunch of things wrong!!! just can't figure it out! Can anyone point me in the right direction?? Thanks.. Tom
