    uploading

I agree - Sony should make uploading available for all users - My N10 is a significant investment for me. Darren
  2. Hitting will only make things worse !!!! Take it to a service center dude....
  3. My N10 seems to be constantly recharging. The display is not showing 'mins left' to fully charged but the little battery icon keeps ticking over. Every now and then it will stop but if I remove it from the cradle and replace it (without use) it will start charging again. The unit is connected to my PC via the USB cable while this whole recharging thing is goin on. Any ideas ? Dazzjazz
  4. Might be a stupid question but do you have the right driver for the N10 ? Also, did you install the driver BEFORE SonicStage ? HTH Darren
  5. Thanks man - very interesting. My bet is that one day we'll get an MD that uploads music that was recorded via Microphone and we'll all live happily ever after !!!! Darren
  6. Where can I find info on this departmental battle in Sony ? Darren
  7. I have an N10. It's my first MD and I love it (even though it did lose an entire field recording once). I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of plans for something to replace it ? I guess all of us are waiting for a uploading to PC feature, and I was hoping that whatever flagship MD Sony releases next would include that. Also the Pitch Control could sound a little better. I know the N10 is the 10th aniversary model, so maybe they won't delete it so soon. Heard anything? Darren
  8. I've had BLANKDISC errors when I know that the disc is full too ! But this was when I recorded via the Mic input. I've searched the Net for a TOC cloning procedure for my N10 without success. The procedure i used before getting my recording erased: 1.Record via mic to a new folder 2.playback recording - no problem 3.Insert track marks and name tracks All standard fare. Next day I went back to the disk, which was left in the recorder, only to find it was blank. I've tried re-enacting the steps but without 'success' ! Please keep me in the loop on this one.

    CDDB Rego

Hi - I'm having trouble getting Cd info. I've tried registering with CDDB2 but I get the following message. "Socket open failed" How do i fix this ? Darren
  11. Hi, I've got my first BLANKDISC message on disc that is not blank. It's got a field recording that I would like to keep. Is there any way to fix this on the n10 - all the other TOC cloning articles I've read seem to involve using deck-type MD players, which I don't have access to. Darren
  12. No, I've tried that and the disc is still blank. I've tried replicating what I did but other discs have worked fine. I haven't recorded over the disc in question in a hope that I can get it back
  13. Hi, yesterday i did some live recording with my n10. I did a bit of editing, such as naming tracks etc. Now, though, I am getting a blankdisc message !! What has happened to my recording ? Darren
  14. Once a song has been downloaded to your MD it cannot be split - damn annoying feature ! I wish Sony would go all the way with their products...
  15. Your argument does not hold any water with me. Firstly, artists negotiate with record companies for a percentage of sales. So, if they've signed, I can only assume they are happy with the contract for the most part. So, by stealing their music, you are denying the creators theire due royalty. I doubt if the domain wasn't the internet, that you'd be doing the same. For instance, I doubt you'd walk into a CD store, and take a CD, saying to the sales staff "I am stealing this as a protest against the RIAA". You'd be locked up for sure. Your motivations are purely selfish - you just want free music.
  16. While i agree our privacy should be paramount, of no less importance are the rights of musicians who own copyright over the works they produce. Having played professionally for nearly 20 years, I know just how hard it is to: Play a musical instrument Make a living as a musician Write something worthwhile I certainly wouldn't want someone stealing my tunes without paying for them, just as I don't play at venues where they don't pay decent rates for musicians. By STEALING music, you are devaluing it and the people who create it. So, when downloading music for free, you are STEALING ! People don't just create these musical works for just anyone to take at whim. So, while you may think the RIAA is some big bad company with more $$ than they know what to do with, step back and think of the impact you're having. Dazzjazz
  17. Hi meko, Check this product out - it might make life easier. http://www.minidisc.com.au/product_info.ph...products_id=204 Facilitates uploads, but I'm guessing it's syill in realtime. There must be some way to find out about that Russian guy!
  18. LP2 is great, and I'm an ex disciple of 44.1khz 16 bit quality!! i record heaps of jazz with a sony mic - sounds fine. If I wanted better quality I'd multitrack ! Dazzjazz
  19. Duh !! Realtime is a drag. We want, need, deserve upload of microphone recordings NOW. You're telling us something we already figured out !
