  1. You may be able to get back to the service menu by enabling HOLD on the MD, then holding STOP on the unit (instead of the GROUP button) and entering the NEXT/NEXT/PREV/PREV/NEXT/PREV/NEXT/PREV/PAUSE/PAUSE sequence using the remote. When in service menu, restore the original values for F-code registers 61 and 62 (I hope you wrote them down). If you don't know them, try changing register 63 from 1 to 0 (or the other way around). This should reset 61 and 62 to their default.
  2. You could try to set back the original values of the F-code registers that you changed (if you still remember them / wrote them down). If you don't know the original values, it may help to set f-code 63 from 1 to 0. On my MZ-N510 this sets f-code registers 61 and 62 back to their original values.
  3. I think the DISP/TITLE option is for MD's with a LCD remote. You can disable that by subtracting 10 (hex) from the number shown in F-CODE 61 in the service menu. You need to know to work with hexadecimal numbers to do this.
  4. Here's a solution that worked for me, however you do need to use the service mode (which can be tricky for the first few times): http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t...r=asc&start=179 "Just found that it may be useful. In case your MD disc has its TOC messed up, or the disc can't be "All erased", try this: Go to service menu 518 (erase), set the value to 00 then press "pause", allow the machine to run up to after address 032. The TOC of the disc is now cleaned and become a fresh blank disc."
  5. At least not over USB. There is some software to edit titles and control playback on a NetMD unit over USB, but download/upload is not possible (it's encrypted).
  6. databoy2k, I think that the problem with the allegedly dead battery during song transfer can be related to bit 7 of register 61 (value 80 hex). On my MZ-N510, setting this bit causes the player to indicate more battery power (also adds a 'PwSave' option in menu OPTION/POWER) than with the bit cleared. The problems with PDM could be related with the possible lack of a required memory chip on some models (I have the same problem, PDM never really worked).
  7. Lately I've been looking into the latest NetMD analysis efforts. Unfortunately, most webpages about this seem dead or not updated in a long while and I got no response from the developers. I put up a simple webpage with my own findings until now at: http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~bertrik/netmd/download.html
  8. According to this link http://www.minidisc.org/NetMD_faq.html#_q84 USB transfer is not the bottleneck for download time, even at USB 1.1 speeds, so USB2 support is not likely to speed up netmd transfers.
  9. I think I have a disc with the same problem. It happened after SonicStage crapped out. After disc insertion it simply says ERROR, although I can still see the names of two songs on the display. I tried the following (all without success) * erase disc on unit -> won't work because there is still a protected track present (downloaded by sonicstage) * erase individual tracks on unit -> ERROR * use XMD under Linux to erase disc -> XMD tells me there is no disc present * use service menu to overwrite random portions in order to make it look like a blank disc again -> no success so far. I'm considering the particular disc to be simply lost (was brand new).
  10. Got it from here: http://www.my-minidisc.com/download.html
