  1. hi folks, i'm looking at the MZ-N510 and it seems to come with crappy earphones. i have good walkman earphones, but i can't tell from the picture if the 3.5mm earphones will plug in instead of the standard MD earphones. maybe sony MD have some special plug type or something? thanks for any help tim
  2. sorry majestic, other way around... it says it has digital in, but i wasn't sure if this equated to optical in, since there could be other digital in connections, say from a sound card that supported digital. thanks
  3. hi majestic, thanks for the reply. i'm looking at the spec for the MZ-N510 which says it has a digital in for recording. is this the same as optical in? it looks like a great little unit for a decent price £99 on amazon.co.uk. cheers tim
  4. hi, i'm looking at the Sony MZ-N510 and i'm wondering if it will hook up with the optical out of my sony hifi for recording direct from CD to MD? i have a mix of CDs and MP3s that i want to record to MD, so can anyone recommend a good solution? from reading around, i think i'll take advantage of the optical out wherever possible for better fidelity. it's for car audio only that i'll be using for MD playback, so a deck or portable solution is fine. one last thing, i've been looking at a Sony MDS-SP55 deck, and i can't get any specs on it, seems like a german model, it's on ebay at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2&category=4786 if anyone would have an opinion on whether it will meet my needs. thanks! tim
  5. hi majestic, thanks for the reply, i'll go with the optical out option i think because i am a fan of quality and i don't mind if it takes longer. would it be simplest for me to buy a low-end portable MD player/recorder to record the discs? i wouldn't really have use for the portable unit except for recording, since the car unit would be where i would play the discs. thanks tim
  6. hi folks, i'm getting a car MD player, and i'm wondering what's the simplest method to record my own discs, from CD or MP3. i have a sony cd player with optical out if that's any help. i see amazon have portable recorders for ~$100, this sounds like the simplest? although the thing is i can't see myself needing the portable unit when i have the player in the car... cheers tim
