now if only i could understand code, i could find out why this software despises me so much. been able to copy ONE disc in 3 months without it crashing. i honestly thought i'd found an install that'd stop the problems... but oh no, that'd be far too easy :/

edit : ftp://ftp.ita.sel.sony.com/ccpg/pc/UILIB24XP.EXE found it managed to find a link on another forum. thanks anyway tho edit again : and its fixed the inability to see the CD drive too.. so i think simpler burner 1 (with upgrade) and sonic stage 1.5 are both working perfectly. i think i'll leave it like this for a while, and try get v2 of both working after i've made up some discs heh edit again again : ok , so ss1.5 is still crashing on mp3 transfer (i tested with an audio cd before) but hopefully sb will still work fine with m3u2sb .. fingers crossed (never liked ss much anyway heh)

heh yeah its been in and out a million times.. BUT... ss1.5 is now working! (after lots of installs/uninstalls) but now simple burner isn't seeing a CD drive lol. i was kinda expecting the blacked out names, cos i had that problem the last time, but someone was able to find a link to fix it (i might go search it now and try installing it) at least something is finally going right tho.. at very worst i can burn MP3s > CDRW and use ss1.5 to transfer. unless it was a one off

i had this problem before and someone on an older forum gave me a link to fix it, but i dont know it now. simple burner isn't actually working for me , but it doesn't crash.. so its closer to working i think, and this patch might help. i think it has something to do with a vaio driver (altho this isn't a vaio pc.. which confused me ! ) ?

sigh, still absolutely no luck. nothing seems to work at all, every version of simple burner and ss i can find just crashes.

ss2.0 works fine on my parents box, so its definitely software related on mine. im fairly sure thats good news im still dubious about my soundcard (alas the onboard audio doesn't work properly, and never has done.. cheap ass vendor!) as the only probs i get with software tend to be audio related. i've taken off some bits of software that might be causing it, and i'll strip the registry of ss2.0 stuff and reinstall later, and fingers crossed 10 new blanks of MDs to fill with tunes heh

still brings up the same prob, and i ran windows update recently i'll try installing simple burner 1 on here, and ss2.0 on my parents and see what the result is....

screencap i tried using LP2/LP4/SP and all 3 methods failed with the same error at the same point. i'll try installing the software on my parents hunk-a-junk and see if it works on that (altho its likely the software won't even load. its like that :/ ) thanks a lot of looking

yep. i might try and uninstall it and run simple burner 1 (if i can find it) and see if the problem arises with that and the old style of xferring mp3s (im sure i didn't get crashes it just took longer hence my switch to SS2. it just says something like OMJGJUKEBOX has caused a fault etc etc, and usually one file has transferred with another 95% thru from memory. i think a screensnap will probably be the easiest way to show you what happens... i just seriously hope its not the MD player itself (already the remote got smashed (as in another thread) and i haven't told the parents (was a xmas present) so don't really wanna take it back :/ ) just my luck i guess

ok i'll give it another shot. i did install iced's build from a fresh install of windows mind (well, fresh to NetMD anyway, i've had it on a few weeks) so its not conflicting with any previous install is the soundcard used in any way at all, as im thinkin there MIGHT be a problem due to it, its only an old SB16 ISA...

im getting major probs transferring to my MD atm.. im not sure if its the MD or the software tho (my player has a habit of turning itself off sometimes, and restarting where the last restart was..) its not been dropped or anything and its only 6 months old, im a bit peeved off to say the least. its been a while since these problems started, but i originally put it down to a dodgy windows install before. the only thing i've changed hardware wise is the soundcard, which MIGHT be linked, im not sure. problems are: SS2.0 (both icedteas build and the official release) will randomly crash after transferring one song (i think) from mp3 in LP2. the MD display will still say TOC EDIT and i'll have to pull the cord out. i'm sure i've had crashes with simple recorder too, but only after ss2.0 was installed im sure.. i dont use SS1.0 at all, as i hate the check in system. LP4 seemed to transfer across, but then it refused to refresh the display.. could be a one off on that tho, as i don't use LP4 much, i just did it as a test. the problem happened in normal and safe mode bootups. if i can help with screenshots or anything, please ask.. atm i can't use my MD except for the 4 or so MDs i have with songs on it, i dont have the optical cable as it got mixed up at my old house and was never found thanks guys

thanks for the posts guys, appreciate it. that remote looks nice, similar enough to the original one and the uber bonus of the backlight. there's a sony centre here so i'll sniff around and see how much they want, but i read on an ebay description (not really gospel mind heh) that sony charge 59.99 for the replacement for my one :/ its not worth getting a 2line remote over a 1line then? or will that not work on the 710? hopefully im up in london in a few weeks to visit a friend, so tottenham court road will defo be on the list of tourist attractions for me anyway

typical eh. left it in my jacket pocket on a settee, and someones obviously jumped on it and smashed my remote. so basically, need to know .... 1. how much sony would charge for a new one (in UK) 2. how much a better store in the uk would charge 3. if its worth getting a different remote instead to say im a bit peeved off is an understatement, cos i know nobody will own up so it'll be out of my pocket cheers for any help, sorry if this is in the wrong forum

i saw usuario spammed that link in practically every thread so thought i'd click it finally.... are they having a joke or something?! $70 for a piece of plastic crap that doesn't actually do ANYTHING you can't do with your minidisc from out of the box! i feel sorry for anyone who actually buys one. looks like its packaged like its worth $20 too. quality
