I am planning to buy a Sony MZ-RH10 some time soon (soon = VERY vague word, I know). I have tons of discs with music in them. They're in SP (the original, original ATRAC recording format) and LP4 formats. Now, I know that the RH10 needs to format them old discs to Hi-MD format. And yes, I know that you won't be able to use Hi-MD formatted discs with the old ones, specifically my MZ-R50, MZ-N707, and MZ-S1 units. Now, my question is: What am I to do with my old units? They're all dead in the sense that they can't record anymore. Any "writing" they do on MiniDiscs just erases ALL content of the discs. But they're all perfectly fine for playback. The reason I'm keeping them because they have sentimental value (*sob*) and because for me, they're top-notch in design. I REALLY like my MZ-R50 because it got into the Guiness in 1999. I REALLY like my MZ-N707 because I REALLY like black and red (and the design is totally friggin' cool). And about the MZ-S1, uh... It's not mine, it's my sister's. Anyway, once I buy an MZ-RH10, what about the old units? Thanks. -=edit=- By the way, I was previously trying to make up my mind on NH1, NH900. NH800, NH700, and NH600. When I made up my mind, new models were already out and I immediately fell in love with the black RH10 =). And the thing that I've noticed is... In the span of 1 year and 5 months, I've only posted twice!??!!?! *sigh*

I've also had this problem for a month or more now. I bought mine from eBay it's a US model with the LCD-less remote. At first I only knew that it couldn't record. But after recording a track at the end of the disc, the whole disc was wiped out. I uh, also had this problem with my 5-year old MZ-R50 (GGRRREEEAAAAATTT model, btw). But my R50 had less problems (although it couldn't write, it REALLY didn't write because it didn't wipe out the discs). But with my N707 now, not only could it not edit, it wipes out the whole disc. Hmm... Nobody seems to have replied to this thread yet for a week now... The worst I fear is to bring it to the repair center. Because my experience with my R50 is that i had to pay almost $200 for repairs. And it broke again 3-4 months after the repair. That price is the reason I bought the N707. And I CANNOT afford to buy another again (if that's the repair price). omigosh huhuhuhuh
