  1. Are there any downsides to using a 500mA one instead? Like battery losing charge quicker or something... Thanks for the replies
  2. Hi there, could anyone tell me what the mA rating for the power adaptor provided with the MZ-NH900 is? I know it's DC 3V but can't find any info on the mA at all. Or even better, do you know is a DV 3V 500mA adaptor would work with it? All UK/European standards... Thanks.
  3. arrghhhh... help! was listening to my minidisc earlier today. pressed stop. pressed start again, and it wouldn't play. had a closer look and it was making a rattling noise, and felt like the laser or something kept moving back and forth quickly, and it won't recognize any disks when i put them in (just has the disk spinning logo and i can move left and right through numbered tracks but no names, and they won't play). *and* it has to happen the day before i go on a 6 hour car trip can anyone help? preferably quickly?
  4. i have an md. i like my md. i wanna keep my md. don't make me jump on it.
  5. i've listened back to the stuff i recorded last night and it's pretty good, appart from the sound which seems to get very slightly louder/quiter every few minutes. is this the auto sound level setting changing the sound levels? in which case could i just set it manually to a lowish level?
  6. rah too late. i'll try stereo tomorrow then. reason i used mono is cos when i tested it out with stereo, everytime i point the mic a different direction it pics up different sounds, so when you play it back the sound is kinda bouncing from one speaker to the other, gets kinda annoying. and being an indie/rock gig the musics so loud there's no real difference between the two sides anyway.
  7. hey all, i'm off too a gig in about 2 hours and i'm gonna use my md + mic for the first time to record it  just wondering if you've got any tips or pointers on anything. what i'm planning on doing right now is use my stereo mic cliped to my tshirt collar (it gets nocked and pics up shuffling noises everywhere else), then use auto REC volume, low mic sensitivity and mono recording mode. then just dont walk around so the volume doesnt get louder as i move closer to speakers i guess. that all sound alright? anyway i'm off to another gig tomorrow so i can try again if it all messes up.
  8. how come i can stick a 22hz vbr file on then?
  9. this is a copy of a message i posted on the razorlame website, i figure maybe you lot might know more about it. it's just about my problems trying to transfer, to md, an mp3 i encoded using the LAME codec and razorlame front-end... apparently lame's kinda good and stuff, so i'm finally using it instead of nero to make mp3s . so there i am with razorlame cos it's simple for simple people, and i set it for 96kbit and mono and leave the rest cos it looks confusing like, and i hit encode. all goes fine, i've got a lovely little mp3 of a live recording of sleeper playing inbetweener at oxford or somewhere posh, and it sounds lovely. then i go into real player to transfer it to my minidisc (using their atrac sony plugin thing) and then it says it refuses to let my portable music player actually portate (um...) my music. something to do with it being the wrong file type. only thing i can see different from it than any other mp3 i've ever transfered onto it is that it says it's mpeg layer 2.0 instead of mpeg layer 1.0 . so after scratching my head a little i use the "--alt-preset standard" command and other than changing it to variable bit rate (obviously changing the bit rate higher than 96) i see nothing different from the other one, but it'll go onto my minidisc no problem . ( I also tried making one using --alt-preset cbr 96 and it did the same as the first try, real said no no no ) so what's up with that? i figure if it was the layer 2 then it wouldn't work for either, and if it was it not being vbr then none of my other mp3s should work. maybe it only likes mono vbr files. maybe it's just being a little shi... EDIT: i've had a look through previous posts, and i think they say i should only be able to transfer files at 128kbit / 44khz and above, but i've transfered 96kbit fils in the past and the vbr file i tiried above (which worked) is 22hz.
  10. this happened on an mz-n710. dunno if it's a know bug or just something weird that happened to me but anyway... it was on the charging stand that was plugged in at mains, and without a disc in. stuck the usb cable in and oppened realplayer, which told me no media had been found, obviously. so without disconecting the usb or taking it off the charging stand, i open it and put a minidisc with stuff on it into the player, close it, select the sony option in realplayer burny thing again and nothing happens. take the usb cable out, plug it back in.. nothing. take the player off the charging stand and hit a few buttons and the lcd screen stays blank. take the md out and stick another full of music in, and the lcd screen is still blank, no whiring or anything from inside. eventually removed the battery and put it back in and it started working again. weird.
  11. try it with realplayer 10 and the sony plugin thingy.
  12. there's a few ways to get around it... use realone player to transfer songs to md instead, there's no restriction on them but you still can't delete them from the disk. i read somewhere something about altering the program code of sonicstage or openmg with visual basic, try doing a search in the forum about it. you can use nero + simple burner to create a drive image on your computer and then transfer it to the md. get's you around the 3 time stuff and you can delete the tracks from your md player but it doesn't transfer the track names with the songs.
  13. "do you need to have sonic stage installed to run the program or something?" why yes pepsi, that would make it work perfectly. d'oh
  14. I think i've got exactly the same problem, thing just crashes when i start the program. gives and error starting... exception information code: 0xc0000005 flags: 0x00000000 record: 0x000000....0 Address: 0x000000...040bldf then loads of other stuff. dunno why. do you need to have sonic stage installed to run the program or something?
  15. hey, i just got a minidisc player so i dunno what i'm talking about  anyway... tried to use realone to transfer tracks onto the disc and it looks like it'll only do it in atrac3 132, 105 and 64kbps. is there a way to get it to transfer in the sp mode or do i have to use sonicstage for that. and what's the 105kbps all about, i know 132 is lp2, 64 lp4 so is the 105 some kinda lp3? and which is better to use anyway, realone, sonicstage (checkin/out boooo ) or the nero + simple burner thing.
