  1. I am waiting to buy until April, when Sony comes out with the HiMD line. These new units are going to use 1GB disks at around $7 each. You will still be able to use the old disks and format them for around 300MB each. Also in the new units you will be able to upload recordings to your PC which you cannot do without 3rd party software right now. You will also be able to store data on them. The low end units will supposedly start at around $200. There are some links in this forum to go to the Sony press release if you look around.
  2. Thanks for replying, I have decided to wait until April and buy one of the new HiMD units. The cost is not that much more and the uploading capibility plus 1GB disks sounds perfect for my Audible books, since a twenty hour book is around 530MB.
  3. 1. I have a huge collection of Audible.com books that I have converted to MP3s. (I bought them, and will put them in any format I want!) I have heard the MDs have issues with transfering MP3s that are not digitally protected. Will I have problems transfering these files? 2. I read books out loud every night to my wife, and would like to record the readings for my future children and my family. I understand that I can buy a powered microphone that will use the optical port on this unit (510ck). Is this true, and how good is the recording? Also I only read for about an hour per night, can I use the same disk until it is full? Thank you very much for taking the time to read and reply to my post. Any help in answering these questions would be great!
