  1. Hi I have a Denon DMD-M7 which I purchased on Dec 9 1997.(Original purchase price was $935 Its in mint condition with original packing, manual, remote(RC 267) Included are system connector cable, optical cable and RCA pin-plug cord. This unit has been in dry storage for the last 5years and previous to that it hasn't had a lot of use. I have this habit of buying things and not using them a lot. I purchased a Sony MZ-RH1 over a year ago and will use this as it can play HI MD and regular MD. I recently set the Denon up and it all works well and is in very good condition(It as not been abused at all in any way) The Main Specifications are(DMD-M7(MD) Type MD digital audio system Wow and Flutter Below measurable limits(+-0.0001%W.peak or less) Sampling Frequency 44.1khz Recording method Magnetic modulation overwriting Light Source Semiconductor Power supply Ac120V.60Hz Power Consumption14W Dimensions 210wx95hx315depthmm (including feet, controls and terminals) Weight 5lbs 8oz Remote control Unit RC 267 Remote Control Method Infared pulse No.buttons 31 Power Supply DC3v using 2 AA batteries Dimensions 54wx155heightx28depth Weight 100grams including batteries Also included in the sale are 32 USED MD discs containing Class Rock and Roll(Recorded from Original CDs) Plus 1 Box Sony MD Blanks(10)80 min Brand New Plus 4 Maxell MD blanks(74 min) Brand new MDs also The MD is packed and ready to ship. 2. Hi I can;t believe that for the last 2-3 yrs I have owned a high quality MD unit and was thinking that the Ipod touch was so much better. Yes it has lots of bells, whistles, videos, lots of useless apps and some good ones but in the end the Sony MZ-NH1 walks all over the Ipod touch when it comes to the most important thing I want the unit for(MUSIC)All my music is on CD and will be transferred to HI-MD in the highest quality format? The only concern I have is this which I read today>>>>>>>>>>> (Though one hassle with Hi-MD units is they don't drive high-impedance headphones well; their headphone outputs are too low. So if you are going with high-end phones with high-impedance, you may be disappointed at the max volume levels you can achieve with Sony devices, depending on your headphones.) The phones I plan on using are the Westone UM3X(Headphones Details:)with my MZ-NH1 * Sensitivity: 124dB/mW, Frequency response: 20 Hz -18 kHz,, Impedance: 56 ohms * Driver: Three balanced armature drivers with a passive three-way crossover. * Soft padded pouch, replaceable Comply TM foam tips, and wax loop for cleaning. ( Foam Tips comes in Small, Medium and large sizes ) * The UM3X is ultimate universal-fit musicians' monitor, perfect for the on-stage performer. * Equipped with a durable 50" stereo "Y" cord with a 3.5mm stereo jack Will the headphones I've chosen work well with the MZ-NH1 and give me sufficent volume? I think all these years I've been in the possession of a quality unite yet chasing something else thats better. I can also use the Sony MZ-NH1 with my Onkyo MD-133 INTEC 275 Hi-MD Deck Recorder. Looking forward to your opinions Pro/Con Greg
  3. The Sony is new and the Ipod Touch is now available.. The problem is when you go into a store you can't just try expensive ear buds and most stores won't have both products.. So now in regard to sound I want input in regard to Sound formats from these units and how they differ and which is best. Greg
  4. I know this is true in the perfect world I would buy both units and a great set of earbuds and go home and try them. I'm not Bill Gates. So this is my way!!!! Greg
  5. I currently own the Onkyo MD133/Sony MZ-RH1 and I'm very interested in getting the new SONY NWZ-X1060(32G) to be released soon or the latest IPOD TOUCH 32g. I want to end up with really good sound in the end with CD quality. My music source is all on CD right now. I need to know a few things., 1/ Between the Sony NWZ-X1060 and the latest Ipod touch which is the better unit sound wise and why? 2/ What is the best format to record in and how do I go about it?(I'm assuming my music has to be all uploaded to my PC?) 3/ How does the sound of the above Onkyo MD133 & Sony MZ-RH1 MD compare to the Itouch/Sony NWZ-X1060? I realize the MD produces great sound but I don't like the idea of carrying around a bunch of MDs Right now I'm more interested in the Sony NWZ-X1060 because it seems to be a lot better in the spec's dept compared to the Itouch which looks really nice and can do a lot of different things. But is it the best when it comes right down to the music? Its music not a bunch of games/apps that I'm in to. PERIOD!!!!! I'm not trying to start a war about different recording formats I'm just looking for your honest opinions. I'm not into all this technical jargon. Keep it plain and simple. Look forward to what you have to say. Greg Joplin
  6. Hi Chris I wrote the original aticle asking about the MZ-RH1 vs the new Ipod touch and after reading all your comments and having time to reflect myself. I realize that I have a superb unit in my possesion which I have hardly used. I realize now that if I re-cord in lossless format/buy a good set of headphones that in the end I will have a unit that can Kick Ass. Furthermore I feel Apple Itouch is a sub standard unit in quality and sound and the only thing going for it is its pretty package. So until some company comes out with an awesome package which includes a built in amp and EQ and lg flash drive and whatever else is needed for it to surpass the Sony MD . I will stick with my MZ-RH1. Even though the CES is coming out in 2009 there is no mention of anything fantastik in regards to portable players/recorders. I still can't believe that Sony hasn't come out with something to surpass their MD line. Greg
  7. Hi I'm looking for honest opinions NO BS in regards to the Ipod Touch vs Sony MD MZ-RH1.(I'm not trying to start a war here, just looking for honest opinions.) I'm also owned the MZ-NH1 ans currently have the Onkyo MD133 home unit. I'm limited in my technical knowledge of sound difference but my ears can appreciate great sound. What I really love about the Itouch is the size and the quanity of music it can hold plus there is np need to carry your MDs with you. I still plan on keeping my MD units and any recordings will be done on the 1GB MD disk so that I can play and record on both units in the same format in the same format. First off I plan on getting all my music from my original CDs and want to record them in the best format that will bring out the best quality sound. What is the best format to use? Next I plan to take all this music and put it on a 32GB Itouch in the best format also? I realize I may have to sacrifice space to do this, but that is okay. If I use a High Quality ear buds such as Etymotic ER-4p /Shure SE310 ear buds and record the music in the best format to enhance the sound will I be pleased with the ITouch sound in the end. I have great hearing and appreciate great sound and due to the fact I'm 59 yrs young I do not hear everything. As I stated at the begining I'm not trying to wage a war between the MD crowd and the Apple people, I just want to hear what you think about both of these different units. I'm not big on reall technical terms and appreciate more down to earth talk. IE On a scale of 1-10 I give the MD 9 and the Ipod Touch 7 and the reasons why?(This is an example.) I look forward to hearing your ideas and why in regards to the above. Thanks Greg Joplin

  14. Hi I'm ready to check out my MZ-RH1 and would appreciate some pointers on these items; 1/What is the software I need in regards to Sonic Stage(Latest Version) where can I find this? 2/ Step my step instructions on how I can get my old format MD's transferred to my PC from my MD and than how I get these same songs and transfer them back to the newer generation of blank MD's. 3/Last but not least recording from my stereo to my MZ-RH1. I'm not really a tech person so would appreciate user friendly advice. Feel free to add any other pointers. Thanks Greg Joplin
