  1. Hi, I followed all the steps in the Announcement: [read this first] Welcome to NetMD. post to remove all of Sonys software, and installed the sonicstage version 2 linked there. SonicStage 2 runs just fine, but crashes and closes when I try to convert a file to atrac3 in the checkout process. I'm left with an error message saying Omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close and the feeling of buyers remorse. Someone please code a program that converts audio files to atrac3, Sony sure isn't going to.
  2. I did not have the restorable folder either. I tried another uninstall-reinstall with my Openmg cd and all the patches and upgrades from the sony site but now none of the programs will run. After clicking their icon to open, the splash logo for whichever program (opnemg, sonic stage, simple burner) pops up for a split second then dissapears and I'm left with an error message saying it encountered problems and had to close. Has anyone solved or gotten around this issue of not being able to run sonys software?
  3. i was at the same place you are, try this out: SUMMARY: How to restore the backup information when unable to connect to the Internet to use the system information restore tool in the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system. RESOLUTION: Follow this procedure to restore the backup information manually. IMPORTANT: The operating system must be configured to show hidden files before beginning this procedure. Close the OpenMGTM Jukebox or SonicStageTM software if it is open. Click the Start button and then click My Computer. In the My Computer window, double-click Local Disk (C:). In the Local Disk (C:) window, double-click the Program Files folder. In the Program Files window, double-click the Common Files folder. In the Common Files window, double-click the Sony Shared folder. In the Sony Shared window, double-click the OpenMG folder. In the OpenMG window, double-click the Restorable folder. In the Restorable window, click to select the ICV.DAT file. On the keyboard, press and hold the CTRL key. NOTE: Holding down the CTRL key while a file is selected will allow for multiple files to be selected. In the Restorable window, click to select the MACLIST.DAT file. On the Edit menu, click Copy. Under the menu bar, click the Back arrow. In the OpenMG window, on the Edit menu, click Paste. NOTE: If prompted to replace files, click the Yes button. ------------------------------------------------------------------ hopefully it will work for you, i didn't have the directory that it refers to so my installation must have been botched. good luck!
  4. I am running windows xp, have 2 monitors connected but always switch to single display mode before using my md, and can not get any of sonys sketchy software for the mzn505 to run properly. Like most of you I was having the transfer fail at 9% and crash problem, but now after applying the patches and uninstall fix from sonys site, uninstalling and reinstalling over and over, i can't even get Openmg to open. I was going to resort to recording my minidiscs in real time, but can't erase the discs without the software! Sony is the greatest evil genius of all time.
  5. is there a specific type of rechargable battery that should be used with this model for recharging? just curious as there's nothing in the manual about recharging
