If sonicstage copys all my music as atrac, cant i delete it after i burn it anyways?

i have a random question about sonicstage. lets say ihave 2.5gb of MP3s... when i burn them to Hi-MD and SS converts it to atracplus3, am i actually doubling how much music is on my computer? is sonicstage actually making a second copy of the song on my harddrive? thats what some people claim is a big drawback about atracplus3 but i wouldnt know, any1 know?

what is the difference? i know my computer has "spdif" and it looks like an optical out but i guess it isnt, so whats the point of it?

wtf u talkin about i saw 600s at target and i could clearly see a hi-md disc included. but for russian distributers.. thats retarded.

that one on the right is the n1 i think. that i know of its sony's smallest MD player. i had one.. for a day.. i returned it because i ordered it right before they announced Hi-MD. so ive been MD-less since january lol.

its pointless to ask all these questions. ill wait for my mz-nh900 to come and ill figure it out myself haha.

oh there is a camera. but anyways they should have all these products use the SAME disc... like once ur done recording video on ur digital camera u can upload it to ur computer then use it to make a new audio MD. and so on.

ok nevermind i checked myself again and i saw my answer but it brought up new questions. [i edited this because i didnt need the original questions answered] but i have a question. if you are using a optical out doesnt it automatically divide the tracks by itself? because i wanted to get highest quality music even if im only gonna get a cds worth of music. how does the hi-md unit know where to divide the tracks? because if i wanted to do real time recording i dont wanna sit there the whole time hitting pause after each song haha. i tried this before on my dvd player and it just recorded as one long track and someone said some dvd players just play "blank" noise instead of actually stopping. but then again i dont want to have to put in the names all individually. but is doing realtime recording with an optical cable gonna give me much better quality then using sonicstage to transfer music w/usb?

well then i hope my sigs arent to big. but anyways i just realized.. any MD disc that is recorded on a Hi-MD player wont play in older MD players will they. because they are "formated" different. so does that mean the minidiscs i have now wont play? as in, will i lose whats on them now when they are reformatted? i dont remember that bieng on ur faq but i figure if this thread is here already i might as well make use of it. :grin:

yea we can all dream that there will be car stereos and home stereo systems and digital cameras that all use Hi-MD but i doubt it will ever happen. I doubt their goal of minidisc is to make a new media even tho it would be really good. took 12 years for sony to let you put files other than music on minidiscs (or am i mistaken cuz i thought i saw some sort of MD-data discs before but i dont know how they are suppose to work). So it would take 20 years before we could use them in digital cameras haha. all i care about is if they give us few people who use minidisc a chance to get a carstereo and homestereo and hi-md computer drive, so we can use minidisc like our own media format. i dont care if the majority of people dont use it, they dont have to but i like it so i think sony should give us the opportunity atleast.

there would be no point of having such high capacity with a removeable disc for portable music players. as a storage device it would make sense but who has 48 gb of music. nobody would ever have a need to even buy a 2nd disc. i just hope sony sticks with Hi-MD and makes a whole line of products like car stereos and what not and i will stick with it because its enough for me.

well i guess i should just get the 900 since it HAS a stick remote.

quick question. Hi-MD players will still play all my old MDs that i had to record manually BEFORE netMD came around right? wasnt sure if you HAVE to reformat to use it in a Hi-MD player.

well you could also copy from MD to MD. if you dont have another one like me. i sold mine off ebay. funny story i bought a mz-n1 or w/e that 25th anniversary one was for $260 or something liket hat off ebay. 2 days later they announced Hi-MD. i returned it and sold the one i already had. that was when i thought they would be out in april. its now almost july and im still Hi-MD-less. sigh

ive never imported anything like that. would it even have english character setting? id guess if other people import these.

anyone hear about this models release in the US at all?

sony better not be selfish and release it only with vaios... but actually its only gonna make them more money by releasing seperate drives for people to buy. I got another 5.25" bay just askin for a Hi-Md drive haha.

any news/info on a Hi-MD Drive? i remember before sony vaios had MD drives but i am really hoping sony will release a Hi-MD drive you can buy seperate.

yea i never got music from anything other then my computer. sigh i think im just gonna go for the 800 then. i was thinking of goin NH1 from datavis but then i read some pretty bad reviews so i dunno. $330 for it would be nice tho.

uh so ur product page says the nh3d is available in japan and thats it? and not till june? is that why its not available for preorder on any of the sites now? because thats the one i wanted darn it.

how reliable is that datavis site? ive never heard of it. and by the way when is the NH3d or w/e coming out. and anybody know the price?
