  3. hI EVERYONE. i have a n505, and i have this problem: when i record songs to mi Md from my pc, the only thing that i get is silence, and when i open the unit, and insert the disk again, i get the "blank" message. (this same thing happen qwith the line in recording). i thought that it was a software problem, and i did all the things to unistall it, and i tried again...and it didnt work... so looking for in another post, i found this: SOME MODELS OF THE MD UNITS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE RIBBON THAT CONECCTS THE RECORDING HEAD (is not the same that the optical lens that is unter the disc).. so, i openned my unit, and guess what: the ribbon was broken... SO..THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH ALL THE N505 MD RECORDING PROBLEM (AND OTHERS MODELS TOO)...AND THE ONLY SOLUTION (AT THIS POINT) IS TO TAKE THE UNIT TO SONY TO FIX IT. Any questions? : dariodravez@hotmail.com

  5. Hi everybody... I have a N505 recording porblem. I have serached in this forum, and it seems that this problems to a lot of users. The problem is that i havent found a working solution for this. The problem that i have is: After a year of good behavior, mi MD doesnt record songs anymore. It actually happened when i was recording a new song in an old minidisc, with other songs recorded previously. When i played the song in the MD, there was no sound; everything in the display were right: song name, time, the moving disc animation...suddenly the song sounded for about ten seconds and the the silence again (huge blank spots)..... After that, i tried to record another songs in another disc, to check if it was a disc problem, or a song problem, or whatever problem.. But i get worse: the discs that i used to record a new song became "BLANK DISC"!!!! and 6 of my 9 MD are now recognized as BLANK by the unit (some of them were left intact, with the originall first recorded working songs). One of this disk was one of the choosen one that the MD wanted to play. But after a time, this MD went blank too, and i didnt do anything to it. At this thime, i have 3 working (just for playing) MD....... Ive tried uninstalling the software (inlcuding the regedit thing), install it again, and the sam thing happen: when i check out a song, the song is recorded to the MD. i unnpluged the MD from the pc, and the MD shows that the song is in the disc, with all the remaining time and tittle stuff in the display. But when i tried to play the song, the animation of the sppinnig disk is faster than an usual play speed, and the song never start. it seem that the player were looking for the song and cant find it. If i open the lid, remove the dic, and insert it again, the player recognize it as blank disc again....... THIS IS FOR THE POPLE WITH TECHNICAL KNWOLEDGE: I reseted the MD EPROM, and change all the values to the original n505 settings,. This was almost succesfull, cause i had some values that doesnt fit with the n505 original values, and cant change them!!! (the vol + vol - doesnt work for this specificly values). Those were: in the 700 POWER section: should be: 731 AD BA i have: AD BB should be: 732 AD 9C i have: AD A5 should be: 733 AD 80 i have: AD 7F THIS IS FOR EVERYONE: Could anybody help me please??? thanx

    MZ-N505 Issues

Hi... I had the exact same problem, besides the fact that i cant record more songs to my MD (and the unit read only some discs..dont know why) Well...i found the article about to how to restore the defaults value of the MD eprom (my problems happened just before i use an rechargable non-sony battery,. so i assume that some kind of electrical shock messed all the values up, and that why it didn record) in this journey of the magical minidisc world, i entered the wrong numbers (because when i pressed foward the minidsc went back and messed all up) and got and error message. The only way that i found to fix it was downloading a table of all the settings that the minidisc must have, and restore it one by one. it took me like an hour and a half, but i did it. My MD went to life again, and magically the foward - back button problem get fixed!!!!... so...i think that thats a firmware problem (firmware is like the operative system of the MD)..i haved opened and cleaned before, and nothings happened. So, if you wanna do the same, download the file in the same page where the hack for the n505 is, and change the values. But remeber..these values controls the MD, so if you do it wrong, is your responsability Bye By the way, the recording problem is still there...does anybody knows how to fix it?
