All I know is that you have to use sony software to convert to atrac3 first, and there's some checkin/checkout limitation on how many copies of a song you can write to discs. Anything else I need to know? Also, any better player suggestions? All I really need is a solid portable audio player, decent sound (going to use puny earphones), and AM or TV tuner would also be cool but not absolutely necessary.

Hello all, I've become interested in minidisc players and since my mp3 player was fried by a mis-wired USB port, I'm looking to buy a MD recorder/player. Is there anything you can tell me about the sony 610 unit other than it's got am/fm/tv/weather (pretty cool)? Any downsides I should know? Any suggestions for better units in that price range?
