  1. I just got my JE330 and did the digital out mod as per THESE INSTRUCTIONS I hooked it up to my Gina card on my PC and pressed play and WOW it was loud... too loud ... it's pegging my meters and since it's digital there is no attentuation. I'm assuming I either did something wrong or something... only thing I can imagine is I used a ceramic disk capacitor and the number on it was 104z which from my readings meant 100nf like what the instructions ask for. Anyone have a clue what I did wrong or how I could rectify this... I need to get this thing fixed up quick... this is for a film project I'm working on and we recorded all the audio on MD. Thanks in advance, Bogus8 *EDIT* I may have been way to presumptious... I just noticed I grabbed "the wrong" disc... apparently that one was recorded way to hot.... I thought it was the same one I tested the machine with when I first hooked it up analog... first track was the exact same track but one was recorded WAY hot apparently. Sorry I knew that didn't make sense 1's and 0's are 1's and 0's no matter what... just had no clue! hehe
  2. Well this is for a up and comming film projects with VERY little or NO budget... we have a portable now or I could buy a portable used for cheap. I will probably just buy the home deck and mod it and use it for dumping. Thanks for the idea though! Bogus
  3. That is an option... though I would probably opt for cheap as possible due to the "independent" (read LOW budget) nature of these projects. That might require me to get the cheaper deck and mod it for coax ...and I think *most* of the decks offer optical vs coax. I have coax so I might as well use that vs converting or adding another card to my pc. I would think the only difficulty in doing the mod to a portable vs deck is just size of componets and for the folks that like it neat it would be hard to do with out some frankenstien looking results. I don't mind the tiny circuits (if I'm told which to tap into) and I definately don't care if this thing is ugly or not. Thanks for the advice though, Bogus¹
  4. I tried doing a search but didn't really find any info. I do recording for film/video and I would like to use a MD for this and I was wondering if any of the portables (newer for the better sound) can be modded for coax or optical... I know it would be a pretty hack job do to the size but I don't mind... and I don't mind working on such small parts, I have quite a bit of experience soldering. I even have a digital scope meter but I don't even know where to begin looking for the sources... not to mention I personally don't own a MD yet. My last resort is to buy(ebay) a mds je330 and hack in a coax output to it since I have coax in on my PC already... does anyone see a problem with this approach... is this one of the models that have loader problems? Sorry for the newbie questions but I'm pretty new to MD and I want to try and get this right the first time Thanks in advance, Bogus¹
