I have recently began using my MDS-NT1 deck again and found I was able to record Hi-SP tracks from my computer to the deck. The recording is written to the MD in standard SP form and is playable on any of my old players. I was wondering how exactly this works. Previously I was limited to LP2 quality by the old Open MG version 2.0 (although the deck itself was always capable of making SP recordings). It was only when I replaced this old program with the version of Sonicstage I got with my new Hi-MD recorder (the Euro version of the NH600) that I noticed this.
