You know.... pooched N707's seem to be rather common. I have the same issues.... no warranty (I'll check though) and a $170 paperweight now.... (mind you it is a rather pretty looking, shiny blue paper weight :laugh: ) So... I am getting out of the MD scene totally.... solid state MP3 player here I come!

Yup.... mine too. My first MD player as well and it crapped outdoing the same thing... It may be the unit needs cleaning or it may be that the record head is messed... who knows? I think I am going to just cut my losses and get a solid state MP3 player... no moving parts = nothing to break (unless you squash the whole unit.
