Hi, bought my nh900 last august and have recently bought the rh10 adn can say without question the rh10 is miles better than the nh900 - It does all the stuff i want it to do Line out of the rh10 is more or less the same as the nh900 the user face (using menus ect) is better than the nh900 the large bright screen means less fiddily, fumbiling presses the size of the rh10 and nh900 are small - not much differnce there GO for the rh10 no question!

YEah i had the same problem - i stuck a little tape as supplied with VHS tapes over the white slip and it works fine.

WOW thanks Kurisu - worked a treat! i can now actualy here the previoulsy near mute recording of oasis unplugged (rec of tv) on my rh10. The EQ adds volume to recorings in need of a boost. Heres what i did for anyone contemplating what to do or is unsure. Here's how you remove this limitation - by entering service mode you take full responsibility for your actions and cannot hold minidisc.org or it's associates liable for any damages occured - don't worry though, you'll be fine: With the 'Hold' switch on, and while pressing 'Menu', press FF FF RW RW FF RW FF RW Pause Pause. [FF = Fast Forward | RW = Rewind] 1.) Press the 'Vol +' key to enter the Manual mode. 2.) Press the 'FF' key five times to select the item number 0113. ***3.) Press the 'Vol +'/'Vol -'key and set the value that is after "DistFL", or if you don't see that, when you press 'Vol +'/'Vol -' a value will increase/decrease - change it to 24.*** ***For this part i didnt see DistFL. All i did was change the last digits to 24 - ignore the fluctuating numbers on the left - just change it to 24 and carry on with the below instructions*** 4.) Press the 'Pause' key on the unit to set the change. 5.) Press the 'Stop' key four times and then remove the battery or whatever is powering the unit. Turn it back on and enjoy! Thanks again and up yours sony for being so pedantic with these new units (more so than previous units - espech with the cost saving menatlity.)

daf-- you can pick up 1gb hi md discs from ebay - they range from around £9-£25 but they wont be in the ul until november :ohmy:

i have a euro nh900 and listen to it with sonys ex71 fontopia in ear phones - all my music is hi-lp mostly mp3s and analouge radio recordings and cd rips - i nearly always have it on volume 30/30 for running. the phones helps to add bass but defintely would like to crank up the volume but cant 'cos it wont go any higher i personaly would get a higher ouput device like the nh1 or better still wait for sharp to realase theirs - with sharps you can realy blast your ears, with sony (in hi-lp-prob bit louder with hi-sp/pcm) you are nearly always reaching for the remote and trying to get it a bit louder... wish i waited 3weeks and got an american unit (they have 5mw x 2) you can get a us unit from minidisco.com audiocubes.com bluetin.com

well ive had my nh900 for exactly a week now and havent had the need to recharge the nh-10w battery yet! - it goes to one bar then two days later its back to the full three bars ??

yeah the having to use the ac adaptor is a pain - especialy if you want to record on mobile. I recorded loads of video recordings of concerts etc and am pleased with the hi-sp facility - obvioulsly im getting the tape noise but still alright for listing whilst traveling. mp3s converted to hi-lp sound crap! not very loud and very flat. btw. do you think i could sell my hi-blank on ebay and get a tidy sum?

received an email from be-direct.co.uk stating my nh900 has been dispatched !! should receive it tommorow! only £189. Also £189 for the nh1 and nh800!! bargain!

doubt youll here anything from sharp about their new hi-md units until early next year - basicaly sony have developed thi snew technology and licensed it to the likes of sharp AFTER they have announced it back in january.

i can clear up your output querie - the french have a law that doesnt allow for audio equipment to exceed a certain output. Because of this ALL sony european units follow this stupid law, thus the 3mW ouput. US, and the world do not have such fooking stoopid laws, thus the output can be what ever they want it to be. THe high end model, nh1 has 5mW where ever it is sold, whether europe or US, hi-end units are except from the law. Why Sony cant just make a French only unit is beond me?

Blank media i think wont be redily available for another month or two :ohmy: but im sure a few online places will have on or two lying around... Be-Direc----did they say if they had alot of units available? guess ill get in the que and order from them...seing as amazon have no units LATE EDIT---have now ordered from be-direct, fed up of looking through the same old websites seing if they have the nh900 for dispatch...just got to wait now... strewth bruce-- did you place your order online? did they phone you to tell you when they were deliveing it?? cheers

those are standard discs re-packaged with the word hi-md on them - 1gb hi-md discs wont be available until sep/october 1gb discs will cost around £4-5 each :ohmy:

ive done it now - just clicked on teh 'other' for the 'why are you mailing us?' bit im probably the millionth person asking when and how much the nh900 will be!

how can i contact amazon uk with regard the release and price of nh900? ive looked on the site but cant find the appripriate link?/contact section?

i did email them (BE Direct) with the following, "Could you tell me please when you expect to be shipping the Sony nh900 hi-md unit? Also, if i place my order now, will i be charged straight away or only charged when the item is shipped?" i guess its early to mid august but do BE Direct charge your credit card asap- rather than waiting for the item to be dispatched? is it worth emailing amazon to find out when they get theres (maybe cheaper than be direct - certainly a company i can rely on)

i know its hard to believe that there actulay gonna ship the bloody things! dixons have august 13th as their release date for the nh1&nh900 so yes THEY WILL ARRIVE in no more than 14 days! any new on the nh900 shipping / price from amazon uk?

cant they just make a li-on battery the same size and voltage as the stick in the nh900?? ah who cares - got the aa add on anywayzz...

does the li-on battery work with nh900? can you get a li-on battery to work in the nh900? will it have to be charged externely?
