  1. So basicaly, no mp3 support, and as strange is no infos about the program used to transfer music.... maybe I didn't see it? Good news is sony has not killed MD yet...
  2. I had the same problem and very cool guys helped me on this forum: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...6008&hl=chinese Use any version of Sonicstage with applocale set on japanese (no need to use the japanese one) and all the titles will be displayed in japanese without changing your regional settings. But it won't transfer the kanji/kana to your device. So you have to make a small change into the regedit command. I tried today (I was sick and tired of having strange signs on my Hi-MD remote instead of Kanji/kana), and it works perfectly!!! "pata2001 has provided the following registry edit for SonicStage 3.0/3.1 recently at T-Board. Follow the instruction below and run SonicStage 3.1 [Asia-Pacific version in your case] with Microsoft AppLocale. I can confirm it will work - kanji and kana characters will show as it should. --> Using regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sony Corporation\OpenMG\PD\{D887F25F-02A3-44D7-841F-583DD5231B5F} --> Then locate the entry called "AreaCode" with a value of 2 for US version. --> Change it to 40000 hexadecimal. That's the value on the Japanese install of SS. Thanks for the effort pata2001." Hope it will work for you too!
  3. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH !!! It worked PERFECTLY! I'm amazed! How did you figure this out! Well, now, I'm satisfied with sonicstage: Kanji and Kana displayed on my computer AND my NH1 !!! For the ones having the same problems here is my configuration: French Vaio/windows XP home VGN A217S with Sonicstage 3.1 asia Pacific version installed. Euro NH1 with the RM-MC40ELK remote (it was the one with the French pack). Thanx SO much again!
  4. Hi Guys! Wow, it's still a BIG problem to manage with asian caracters and sonicstage!!! Well, I have also an annoying problem. Thanx VERY MUCH for applocale, a wonderful little program. I'm using the 3.1 sonicstage asia pacific-version, and with applocale, every jap tracks are fully and beautifuly displayed in japanese, without changing my regional settings (I don't like changing it, as my OS is in French, Outlook Express and other programs change the lettres into Kanji... I have to reboot everytime I want use Outlook etc.)! YAHOO! Nothing crashes, Sonictstage is in English, etc. It's really cool.....BUT!!!!! I transfered some japanese songs on my NH1. I have the RM-MC40ELK remote wich displays kana and kanji (it worked when I used the 2.3 japanese version of Sonicstage changing my regional settings), and I was VERY disappointed: no Kana, no Kanji on the remote, but strange signs and lettres!!! No question marks, but signs and letters!! I tried to change my regional settings into Japanese to see if it worked better. It was the same. I also tried with my jap psp, and it worked just fine: kanji and kana are displayed! Why not on my NH1??? as it used to work! COuld someone help me with this?? THANX A LOT! (hope someday sony will understand that people listen other music than the ones of their country, and make a program wich can manage all languages!!! Vaio Zone displays Kanji without any problems. Why not Sonicstage???)
  5. Of course! how stupid of me! I didn't see the other numbers next to the other applications! Well, anyway, let's say there will be a 4th version someday! (I just hope they're gonna give up with this "sonicstage", find another name, and a brand new prefect program!! wouldn't it be better? sonicstage has now a really really bad image, even if it slowly improves at every version...). The reason I don't upgrade with a US or jap edition of sonicstage is that the last time I did, it worked fine for a couple days, and then screwed up my music library. I have a vaio and Vaio zone wich shares the same audio library. If not the same language, there can be some bugs... or not.... anyway, I don't know.... I'm just still upset Sonicstage still don't manage Kanji !!! Why Sony can't just make addons language for any language (jap, chinese, arabian, hebrew, whatever!) if they can't put it dircetly? Well. This is not the right post to talk about that. But this sony device makes me ask a lot of quetsions!! are they going to sell every month a device which can do better than the one come out a month ago? (Hi-md, hi-md mp3 etc. next one himd mp3 acc????? and so on and so forth!) It's really anoying.
  6. Am I dreaming, or is it written Sonic Stage 4??? I've never seen a program with so many versions coming out so quickly! (3.0 hasn't come out yet in Europe... we're still using this 2.3 awful version)... Please PLEASE, let the 4th one the so much awaited version...the perfect one! 'cause if this thing uses all the popular programs as Itunes and musicmatch, who will use sonicstage? except for Atrac of course...
  7. Annoyance: Still can't manage japanese or even other foreign caracters. This is really annoying when half of your cd collection infos are written in japanese. It appears correctly in the cddb infos, but turn into ????? series after importing in SS 3.0. Big annoyance: you still can't place your files from a folder to another, just like that( or just like MP3). You have to tell SS 3.0 after selecting the tracks, where you want to put them. Unfortunatly, the created folder with the covers and all still remains in the initial forlder. It's real mess. But if you want to select a new folder to put your atrac files manually, when you perform an automatic search, SS will import the files again, but you'll lose all the cd information, and you won't be able to import them a second time with CDDB, as the files imported aren't recognized as copied from a cd anymore. I agree that "20" copies of the cover art remaining even after deleting it from a oma file is stupid. A lot more to say later. (good points: you can choose whatever bitrate you want when transfering, even from Hi-SP. SS won't keep the copy of the atrac file. Unfortunatly, if you want to have a copy, you won't have any. SS keeps only the atrac copies of other formats into Atrac, like mp3 wma etc.) Better, but not perferct.... still dreaming of a perfect Sony program...
  8. Hi! I have exactly the same problem, but on an NH1 this time! I'm listening to music, and somehow, it stops and reboots. I have to do everything from the beginning. I agree it's extremely irritating, and even with the 'disc memory' option on, it doesn't make any difference. So you're not the only one to have this issue on a Hi-MD unit!
  9. yes that's it! But Ipod does'nt record from external source like a mic and has poor battery life unfortunately (i like design very much) and you spend more time playing with control than listening to music! Hi-md new pcm feature is excellent. I make sound for animation movies, and hi-md seems to be perfect for that use. I'm not looking for a walkman, I'm looking for the machine I need and that could also be used as a correct walkman. Otherwise, I'd by the pretty lookin Rio Carbon! 1rst proof: http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/SonyStyle...ss=show&id=S1VP in english:http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/SonyStyle...?shop=SST_GB_EN There. If the links don't work, just go to european sonystyle website and see for yourself. I think the "false advertisement " term is correct here. But well let's leave it like that... It doesn't matter anymore.
  10. Of course I kind of overact. It's not very important, it's just electronics we're dealing, with, not people life! sure! What I hate is, we're not talking about prototypes, but real available devices! They ARE selling a promise, they are selling a usb cradle, it's written. I was very interested in that feature, and I wanted to buy mine because of the ease of use! I know the NH1 has the power supplied by the usb cable (wich is good) though. Retailers are not the ones to blame, sony is! They know this for a month now, they have sold some nh1 by now, I guess some people told them, and they still haven't change the specs on their site! Hi-md isn't as attractive than ipod for example, and their "high-end" model is expensive. Why minimise their chance to sell to people who aren't too sure to buy one! I am convinced that this feature is an important selling point compared to the older or cheaper MD or Hi-MD models. I remember reading some posts where people where fond of this cradle because of its usb capability! It's not just about disappointment, but a bit of anger to realise once again the dishonesty of big companies. I know you're gonna say "welcome to the real world" but well, it still was 400$ I was gonna waste in a feature I wouldn't have, otherwise I would have bought a H900! Excuse me again for blowing out of proportion!
  11. Sure! In the French specs review, battery is translated as it was a simple AA battery external cas. It is very easy to be wrong about it! I guess they messed up with the translation. I suppose so. But it's seems quite stupid to me: it would have been far better than nothing! the "click in/click out" of the dock was a very convinient way of transfer music! very stylish! Well, anyway, thank you for your answers, I dicided not to buy the nh1, and wait for a while for the ultimate Hi-md device.
  12. I think it's a scandal, because every site selling the product still DO tell there is! It is also one of there main selling point! Indeed it has already been discuused, but I really wanted to confirm it once for all.
  13. Hi everybody! new topic from France! The mz-nh1 is available in stores here (not everywhere though), and some new French owners on the net of this brand new Hi-MD Player say that the usb plug on the charging cradle is missing!!! I read some topics in different forums, and some people say there is indeed no USB on the cradle, and some others say there is, 'cause they saw it in demo in the US at a sonystyle store in NY! I called a store selling the nh1, they checked and were also very surpised not to find the small hole at the back of the cradle to plug the usb cable in. I was about to buy one, but if this very useful usb plug doesn't exist on the dock, I'd be bloody dissapointed. I like the idea of leaving the dock next to the PC and just click my nh1 into it to transfer my music instead of "click" it out , and then directly plug the usb cable , etc. Very annoying (at this price) after all sony promises... Could some owners tell me more about it? I sent an email to SONY to ask them, 'cause they write on their european sonystyle site "Unique Charging & USB (recording) cradle" in the specification review!!! It would be a BIG lie! WORST, still in the specs review they say there's also an "External battery case"! It's a crazy world I tell you. Well, it's still a shame, but I don't care about the external case anymore, because I knew from the beginning there wouldn't be any, but about the USB CRADLE, it would really piss me off!!! Thanx for your answers!
