  1. Thanks heaps guys, this helps a lot.

    :)

Wait did you "blow up" the NH1 or the AC adapter??? Because technically speaking the "charger" is in the unit itself, the AC adapter provides power to the unit for operation and charging purposes.

If it is the AC adapter that has gone bad, you can either get a replacement Sony one (I wouldn't buy one direct from Sony as it will be expensive but you can find them on eBay at times) or a universal "digital switching" adapter (use only a switching type adapter on that unit to keep the voltage within tolerance). Either will work fine provided you have the right voltage and polarity.

If you don't want to deal with a universal, and can't find the specific adapter for the NH1, find a Sony AC-Exx adpater instead. I'm gussing the NH1 uses a 6V adapter (what is it the AC-ES605 or something)? If it does use the AC-ES605, then you'd need the same adapter, or a universal switching rated at for at least 500mA; or, a Sony AC-E60 to replace it.

Well it was just the adapter. I plugged it in and sparked and smoked a bit. I am in Australia by the way, and the voltage is 240v. Although it's worked for like a year though! Interestingly I had to unplug it every time I would record as it would cause a loud buzzing sound in the mics unless unplugged...

  2. Yes, I somehow blew up my charger! It smoked a little bit, smelled bad, and doesn't work. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on the best way to charge my batteries. Should I but aother charger through Sony, is there a third party charger out there that would be cheaper, is there a way to make it charge from the USB, any other thoughts?

  3. It seems to me this issue goes away with Sonicstage 2.1.  You can now make Audio CD's (PCM) directly from SS2.1 with any makers computer.  This functionality used to be restricted to Sony brand computers.  So if you record in PCM, upload from HiMD to SS2.1, then burn a CD-R or CD-RW, you have a rippable CD of PCM quality with no loss from recording to ripping.

The issue for me is being able to edit my music in programs such as Cakewalk, Cool Edit Pro, etc.

Anyway that news sure is great to hear. I had just about given up on MDR. I'm looking forward to selling this stupid IHP iRiver 120 HD recorder!

I've missed MDR, but just can't go back to real time uploading...

  4. It is done in real time, the difference: Everything stays in the digital domain without the soundcard affecting the sound quality.

Sony promised to make a converter utility for Mic/Line-In recordings. ETA: next month.

They have promised to make this converter??? where have you heard this promise stated? BTW thanks for the hope smile.gif
