  1. I'm having the exact same problem. It quits when installing the limited patch and gives me the same error messages. If I find a solution I will be sure to post it here for you.
  2. The disadvantage of using SonicStage is that you can't delete tracks withouth connecting the MD back to the computer because of DRM. If you use simple burner, you can delete, add track marks and treat the track like a regular MD track. SimpleBurner also has support for track titles.
  3. I would blame Sonicstage before even thinking of blaming the MD unit. SS is a very flaky program and if it "doesn't like you" then it could mean trouble. I personally have not had any major problems with it but other users report horror stories. My suggestion to you would be to completely uninstall sonicstage and re-install it and then try again.
  4. I second that. After only knowing about MD for 2 weeks and having my (used-from ebay) N505 for 1 week, I'm ready to upgrade to Hi-MD solely based on the great capabilities that marcnet's program adds to the MD platform. MD
  5. I managed to convert a .oma file to .wav using TmpgEnc. I had to set it to output video+audio and I ended up with a blank .m2v file and a .wav file of the music. I had to keep upping the settings for the .m2v file till it encoded in ~realtime in order to get the whole 3:45 song out. Any faster settings (reducing bitrate on the .m2v, reducing frame rate) and I would end up with 1-2 min of sound with the rest silence. This was only possible on my slow work PC (P3 700Mhz, 128Mb RAM, 20Gb HD) as my home PC encodes in seconds even when the settings are maxed resulting in 1-1:30 min of sound and ther rest silence. To me, marcnet's program is still the best way to go for converting .oma/omg files to wav.
  6. In order to upload a lossless format (PCM) via USB in hi speed, you would need a Hi-MD. Those are the ones that go for $200+ but if you are OK with uploading via analog Line in on your PC soundcard in real time, then you should be fine with a Atrac3 Type-R recorder. You should also try to see if you can score one with Type-S DSP, this enhances LP2 and LP4 recorded files on playback fo better sound when you upload. Those Non-Hi-MD recoders should come cheaper since they 1) can't upload digitally to PC. 2) can only use standard minidiscs.

    Sony MZ-N707

You can find a new N707 on ebay for less than the cost of parts.

    WMA

All you have to do is download and install SonicStage free from www.connect.com and it will be able to transfer your WMA onto your new N505.
  9. Only if the disk is formatted in Hi-MD format (305 Mb). Same holds tru for the 600. Regular MD or NetMD formatted disks cannot be uploaded by any player.
  10. Or use marcnet's program to burn CD's of your stuff or make MP3s...
  11. NetMD has no upload capabilities other than real-time analog uploading (which you mentioned) so NetMD does not have any benefits if you are not download to MD from PC.
  12. I too have a hacked N505 but cannot do what you say. All tracks transferred to the MD via SonicStage will give me teh track protected error. That is why I only use the nero/simple burner to transfer them. Did you change anything besides what is specified in the walkthrough?
  13. Visit http://www.esdl.co.uk/ and click on the section of minidisc recovery.
  14. What kind of files are you trying to put onto the MD? If you have Hi-MD then you can use this tool for conversion to ATRAC3+
  15. You have to completely uninstall the software and re-install version 2.2. To completely remove all files and registry entries check out this thread.
