Hello All: Please forgive me if this is an easy answer, but after numerous searches, I can't figure this out... I have dumped over 1000 12" singles to my PC as .wav files because they are not available on CD... After importing them and transferring them to my HIMD (900), I went back a few days later and the folders were still on my hard drive, but ALL the files were gone !!! Thoughts ? Or did I miss something fundamental that slipped passed me ??? Cheers, D

I posted this before and only got one response, which was I have to burn the WAV files on my PC to CD, then use Simple Burner to rip it to the HIMD. This is absurd ! Everytime I want to transfer WAV files from my PC to HIMD, I have to waste a cd ??? Why can't we record PCM .wav to HIMD directly ??? (or can we...) I'd like to take advantage on the 94 mins of uncompressed audio on a 1 GIG disc. Any help would be graly appreciated ! Cheers !

Hello All: Aplogies if this has been discussed here before, but I've spent 1/2 hour looking and can't find an answer... I have an MZH900 unit, and I want to import wav files on my PC to My Library in Sonic Stage 2.2. I want to transfer them in their original format (PCM WAV) to a HI-MD which will give me 94 mins of CD quality listening time. In other words I want to transfer audio from my PC to HI-MD with no compression. The manual says I can do it, however : 1) I get no such option, the highest one being Atrac 3 Plus 256 2) When I do attempt to transfer in "original format", I get an error message saying that "these tracks cannot be transferred" What am I doing wrong ? Cheers. D

My follow up with my battery issue... After getting the run around at Sony Canada (wrong # published on web, buggy voice activated phone system, rep giving me a wrong number); I simply emailed a VP of something or other from the contact page, and emailed him a full page letter stating all my issues beginning with the buggy sonic stage right up to this battery issue... I received an email 5 minutes later stating that he was glad I brought these matters to his attention and "Customer Service Management" would be notified. Voila, less that an hour later, the phone rep calles me back and says that he will be sending me out a battery that same day. It's amazing what you can accomplish when go to the top.... Cheers, Dave

Ok...I called Sony Canada (first sign of a bad omen was that the number on the web is wrong) The rep listened very patiently while I explained the situation. He naturally wasn't aware of any issues with the battery, and after I explained that this is my second issue with the unit (horrible sonicstage issues) he showed a bit more sympathy Turns out that luckily head office is about 15 minutes from work, so he said to bring in the unit and they will replace the battery. I asked to make sure that they actaully had one in stock, so I'm waiting for the call back to confirm so I don't waste my time... More to follow...

I was going to call Sony today about this very issue. I bought a nz-mh900 in December and have charged the battery 4 times. I am getting about 4 hours maximum play with audiobook quality (45 hrs on HIMD) I let the battery drain completely each time and am still getting poor performance. I'll report back once I hear back from Sony. Cheers, D.

I saw a Sony MD walkman at a local "Asian" mall that sells lots of bootleg dvds etc and it had "MP3" stamped on the cover... Is this a new unit ??? Sorry if this has been discussed b4. Cheers D.

well i uninstalled my mcaffee as well a bunch of other apps, grabbed the windows security workaround for the md issue from the site, and then uninstalled sonic stage 2 as per the "proper" was described here, then rebooted and reinstalled it and then rebooted and crossed my fingers i also did msconfig and shut down all apps like mcaffee zone alarm etc so that my system was back to it's original state...and voila... sonic stage now works perfectly...no issue whatsover, and i don't have to be online for it to work... thanks very much for everone's help   this board is a great resource... cheers dave

i've already reinstalled that way and still get the issue i just spent an hour on the phone / online chat with 3 different people, and one of the Sony reps insisted i MUST have hotfix KB840987 installed otherwise I shouldn't be getting the omgjbox.exe error... :wacky: i tried to explain to him that was the first thing i checked for after reading all the threads here... after 15 minutes of getting nowhere he transferred me to "second level" support, to a woman who was very knowledgeable and understood what i was talking about since the only thing that was different since the original install was that i was online, i am desperately hoping that you don't need to be online to use SS or I will have to return the 900...as i keep that PC off the net to have a virus free / trouble free computer... she couldn't tell me for sure whether SS need to be connected or not I am waiting for info from the Sony MD "Product Specialist" i will keep you updated...

i really appreciate the help on this sorry to be cranky, but this is becoming to be more of a problem than it's worth am i going to bring my cable modem upstairs to my "off the net" pc, reload zone alarm + mcaffee and update windows everytime this happens ? like i said i really appreciate your help on this and will wait patiently for your response this evening cheers dave

great i keep this PC off the net to keep it clean... i refuse to put service pack 2 on this pc... also, didn't one of these updates CAUSE one of the problems ???

Hello: I posted here a few weeks ago regarding problems with Sonic Stage sw that came with my new 900, and was pointed to the online install which worked great... But a week later, I go to use my unit with my PC and Sonic Stage 2 will get right up to initialization and then I'll get the "omgjbox.exe encountered a problem" crash... I don't have that windows update patch installed and I have a clean PC that has both zone alarm and mcaffe installed but not loaded with startup Any ideas ? I'm thinking of taking the unit back and giving up on MD as it's been nothing but problems, considering I paid 400 bucks for it... Cheers Dave
