No its doesn't, I get more response from the NH900 but even then only the fact that it tries to make me format the disc !!
-
It was a live concert (the twang) which I would dearly like saved if possible

Help please .. I made a recording in PCM mode last night on my MZ-RH1 now I can't read the disc I get FORMAT ERROR when I try the disc in my MZ-NH900 I get :- FORMAT ERROR DISC >> FORMAT TO RECORD OR PLAY ? >> PUSH YES : ENTER NO : CANCEL Is this recoverable ? should I proceed with the format option ? Many thanks

The definitive quasi-scientific answer on auto t.mark with line-in
motown_junky replied to dex Otaku's topic in Software
Thanks, this is indeed great news !! However glitches in my recordings were caused by adding track marks manually on the unit to a contiguous track which sounded fine on the unit but when uploaded through SS the repeated sections could be heard, would this problem also now be resolved ? -
It sounds to me like you have recorded through the line in rather than the mic input.

I have just bought that exact same mic & battery box only I am using them with MZ-NH900 recorder. You will not be disapointed I tried mine out at a recent U2 stadium show & was blown away by the results.

Yep me too, I thought I was going mad, I purchased my MZ-NH900 from Amazon & straight away noticed the strange behavior of the nav/menu. I contacted Amazon who basically said 'not our problem, go to Sony' so I ended up sending it away to Sony to be repaired, when it eventually came back it worked for about 3 presses then reverted back to the fault, not only that it now seemed worse & to add insult to injury I started experiencing the stop button acting as forward skip !! Anyway to cut a long story short I went back to Amazon who agreed to replace it so I now have a new replacement that works perfectly.

Thanks for the comments, I already have a 9v battery box with bass roll off fixed at 60Hz, I have used this one time only with good results going Line in with a Sony ECM-717 mic. I was hoping that the new mics would give an even better result as the frequency range is 20Hz to 20,000Hz whereas my Sony mic is stated as being 100Hz - 15,000Hz or am I missing something else ?

I have just impulse bought these mics from ebay and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them for stealth recording of rock concerts or equivalent. Any opinions or feedback at all would be most welcome http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...457475&tc=photo Thanks in advance

This is my dilema exactly, I too have made A line/in batt box recording and was very happy with the clarity/lack of distortion etc. However compared to my only previous attempt at live concert recording though mic in (plug in power only) it does seem to lack something, I would have to say that I prefer the mic in version even though there is clipping & distortion in places (even with manual levels right down) which I think is due to SPL. So would using the battery box with mic in & low sensitivity & manual rec level etc be the answer. Sorry to reply to your posting with questions rather than answers !!

Panic over, I opted to use the battery box / line in combo & was absolutely blown away with the results, no distortion whatsoever & even the quite acoustic part of the show has come out crystal clear. I will ALWAYS use this method in the future

I appreciate that this seems to be the general concensus of opinion, it's just the the input signal seems very week on the level indicator even with the manual level at max. I am now using a battery box instead of the 1.5v mic battery, I have been trying to simulate loud music using Hi Fi. The show I want to record is tonight and still unsure whether or not to risk line in being too quiet or mic in being distorted !! Please someone take this decision out of my hands !! :wacky:

This may have been covered already, but I'll post it anyway. My setup is a Sony MZ-R70 recorder & an ECM-717 mic, the mic has a battery compartment & power switch although I have not used this yet, I usually connect via the powered mic in connection. I want to make a live concert audience recording but I am unsure whether to use the mic with power on and connect via the line in socket. I always use the manual rec level as opposed to auto, I'm just not sure which input to use ??
