  1. Equalizer vs. MegaBass? All I can say is, you'll get used to it. Overall I'll take the EQ, but now that more sound settings are available, sometimes I'll change the settings around for awhile almost struggling to find just the right one. We're better off now though. Maybe Digital Mega Bass could be reintroduced as presets. It could make a come back in a 'retro' style unit.
  2. What was up with forum (and minidisc.org) downtime Sunday afternoon / evening? Just curious, Thanks.
  3. Well, it's not wrong. The stand will be needed, but I suppose there are (at least) two options to get the power to it. If it was me, I'd use the AC adapter (which is already supplied with the unit) with an inverter. Then if I want to swap it out, and power something else in my car, I'll have that option. Mannnnnnnnny ways to a solution.
  4. That E900 looks sexxxxxy...another minimalist design. Too bad it's not a Hi-MD unit. It's a member of Ye Olde School.
  5. No, I don't think so. If you want to charge/use the NH1 in your car, you'll have to take the charging stand with you, and plug it into a DC to AC power inverter like one of these... http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/power-inverters.html Cheers.
  6. The Smashing Pumpkins Radiohead The Datsuns The D4 The Smashing Pumpkins Flaming Sideburns A Static Lullaby The Smashing Pumpkins... Did I mention The Smashing Pumpkins?
  7. This model does look pretty rugged. I'd think the lack of a display would drive some people crazy, but with the right remote, that probably wouldn't make a difference.
  8. Awesome. I'm thrilled to learn about this. However, I have a question about another scenerio... What about tracks, recorded mic or line-in, that were uploaded to a PC with an earlier version of SonicStage, and marked as 'Track from PC'? Could these be uploaded again? Forgive me if this has been explained about the new version as well, but I just want to make sure. Hooray for another version! Hi-MD lives on!
  9. This is a very good question. I'm sure a lot of board memebers here have had discs collect dust and lint by putting them into pockets. If you have a can of compressed air, you could try carefully opening the shutter on the disc, and blowing some cool air into it to clean it out.
  10. If you search the forums, you may find posts from other members about speed problems. If you are converting MP3 files for your minidiscs, try converting the problem files to a stereo 16 bit 44.1 khz WAV file before you convert them to atrac and transfer them to a minidisc. It adds an extra step, but it may solve your problem.
  11. (Skradgee flips over his MZ-RH10 bought from Japan: MADE IN MALAYSIA) Huh. I knew that the NH1 and many other products were made in Japan, but anyway... At the risk of putting my foot in my mouth, I'll say this: It's not that I doubt the quality of Chinese workmanship. I would just hate to see the company possibly lose some ambition or control over the production of their products. I understand that many companies are moving their labor overseas, but hopefully the trend will not cause the company's innovation and quality to suffer.
  12. Sony is stupid. Sorry. I somewhat agree with you. The company has some great products, but stupid marketing. Does anyone still remember when MDs first came out on the market? There were TV commercials for them. Have anyone seen any large-scale advertisements like that for Hi-MD? I haven't. There are four P's to marketing...Product, Promotion, Place, and Price. Customers need a certain product, they need to know about it, and it needs to be available where and when they want to use it for a reasonable price. Drop the ball on any one of these four concepts, and your product will fail. I'd say lack of promotion is what has made Sony fall behind Apple in the digital music player market. That got a little off topic...but hey, aren't those 2GB blanks awesome? I'm going to go buy a bunch on eBay right now.
  13. Good question, I was wondering the same thing. You'd think that CDs would be worth more since they're more commonly used, but maybe the reverse is true. They give out the big money for the less-used medium.
  14. To throw my 2 cents in on this one...always have at least two internet browsers availabe to use. I answer technical support calls for a fairly big insurance company, and for whatever reason Firefox just doesn't work for secure logins at our company website. IE and Opera work alright...but Firefox is a no go. Maybe the site was just built crappy and we can hold the designers responsible for that, but...my advice is to keep two web browsers on your computer, just for flexibility.
  15. Yeah, I'd say that there is some truth to that. The display can be configured to be "always on" in the options for the unit, but usually (by default) the screen goes almost completely dark after selecting a song to be played (no buttons are pressed for several seconds). I'm not sure how much faster the battery drains if the display is always on, but I'm sure it is noticeable.
  16. I also have 9 Hi-MD discs. About a year ago I bought a five-pack of the regular grey ones. Then I occasionally bought single discs from RadioShack (grey), then my girlfriend bought one of the shiny blue ones for me. So, I have enough for PCM recordings, but I could surely use more.
  17. Yeah, wouldn't that be nice? This goes along with our request to have manual record level settings be set each time you put a Hi-MD recorder into record mode. Maybe some day.
  18. To each his/her own, but I like being able to see that extra information by mousing over the files. I suppose you would have to uninstall the program to make that go away.
  19. Additionally, you can use the file writing plug-in with Winamp to write WAV files, then convert the files to atrac for MD listening.
  20. If the disc is ejected while it is still playing (or even a few seconds after pressing stop), then the disc is still spinning that may be the sound you are hearing.
  21. I've seen a picture of a 2GB disc!! They must exist!!
  22. Hey Bananatree, do they sell Mr. Pibb and Redvines there too? You could pick 'em up with MDs in a one stop shop.
  23. Welcome to the forums, con spirito. Now read up, friend. http://www.minidisc.org Check the Equipment Browser, and old posts here on the forums to find out more about the RH10. Look under Hi-MD.
