Thats why a CD player is much better. You can only get 10~15 songs on it at time.

You need to get out more m8.

SonicStage 4.3 Arrives, Features Vista Compatibility

Are they standalone or upgrades? -
While that is certainly part of the reason. I suspect a lot of it is that the majority of the market isn't interested in recording. Just like some people never got into home taping. They simply don't want the hassle. So why include it.
-
Have you tried resetting it? http://www.reset-ipod.com/ You'd be better asking this question on a iPod forum.
-
I've had two main problem with VBR. My iPod Shuffle had a problem with it as does my car CD/MP3 unit. While I realise its smaller and better quality than CBR I'm wary of VBR because of the problems I've had with it.
-
I think theres a realisation, especially as you get older that not everyone can hear the difference. That doesn't mean it isn't there. I struggle distinguishing different high bitrates. But have no trouble distinguishing between low bitrates like LP2/LP4 from SP. For me its obvious. However SP from HiSP or PCM is much harder, often impossible for me. I'm sure someone with better ears and better equipment can hear it though. I like the sound of a good cassette though I often can hear a different between it and a high bitrate MP3/ATRAC. Depending on the specific track and recording I might prefer either.
-
The main pro of MP3 is that is a more common format, so your library is usable across more devices. I think ATRAC probably has the edge in SQ but its so slight the inconvenience is not worth it.
-
I can't remember exactly, and my memory might be faulty but I think a full 1GB HiMD takes about 20mins to transfer for me. My 2GB Flash MP3 player takes about 3-4mins.
-
You can up load old SP recordings on a RH1 only. You can't upload NetMD transfers. All HiMD's can upload their recordings, PCM, HiSP, HiLP.
-
I'll have 3 so!!!
-
Shouldn't take that long. Sounds like you either have USB 1.1 ports on your computer or your USB 2.0 ports have a problem and are stuck in USB 1.1 mode.

SonicStage 4.3 Arrives, Features Vista Compatibility

Respect.... -
Have to say I like CDWave. You can now plug Lame into it too.
-
Where did 3.6 GB come from? Last think I read what that HiMD had a max possible size of 2GB. But someting to use a 2GB HiMD wouldn't be compatible with a standard MD because of the laser required. I can't find a link at the moment.

Wait till he tries to RAID those LPs...
-
RAID is not intended for backup. RAID is for increasing speed (data throughput), and increasing the logical size of a "hard drive." Its also for redundancy and prevent a system in the event of HD failure. Theres no versioning, no offsite protection, no protection against theft, fire, viruses, no security features, no protection from user error, sabotage etc. Whereas a proper backup system has all those things.

Great link, thanks! -
Interesting comparison of bitrates

They used SS 3.3 for HiSP -
Unusual to see ATRAC in there. http://www.soundexpert.info/coders256.jsp http://www.soundexpert.info/coders105.jsp
-
No because its a different price point and people still like to use MD/HiMD as players and also the swapable disks etc.
-
Yeah a player for when you don't want to risk the RH1.
-
I doubt it will supply power though. Which was I was angling towards.
-
Reminds me a bit of the sound track to the game Shogun I used to have. Dunno what 5th graders are but they sound good whomever they are.
-
No It says I need quicktime pro to do it.
