  1. Sounds interesting. Is there a .pdf link to this Italian catalog?
  2. Use Regedit, then locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\EMD --> Modfiy Value name: HomeURL accordingly with http://musicstore.connect.com/ Let me know if it works.
  3. Thanks for confirming our initial listening tests.
  4. Indeed, those bit rates are history. By the way, could you provide your download link? Chris will update the download section accordingly with all SonicStage 3.2 regional installer. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the information. I shall take a look at Adobe Audition.
  6. Personally, I would prefer the "speaker" icon over the "VOL" icon.
  7. I concur it's available for the VAIO Pocket as well. So, it is plausible to state that all NW-HDx and NW-E10x/40x/50x should have the same option to 192kbps.
  8. For those that are interested: I concur with Adrian (atrain) in regards to sound quality. The difference between 256kbps and 320kbps is not significant but noticeable. I tried Nina Simone's I Loves You, Porgy both at 256kbps and 320kbps. (using MDR-SA3000 via desktop audio out) I can immediately discern a fuller sound overall; and there appears to be light boost in the upper midrange and treble. Please note that this listening test is subjective. A frequency analysis would definitely reveal any significant difference - any suggestion as to which software to employ for such a test?
  9. Brilliant. I tried 128kbps and it's no go - I shall try 192kbps with the VAIO Pocket for the sake of curiosity. Thanks Pete!
  10. This is indeed a surprise. I will try this bit rate with the VAIO Pocket. Thanks Pete!
  11. That's odd. I never had to reinitialize my VAIO Pocket with the Japanese version of SonicStage 3.2. Just a note of interest: there were discussion during the release of SonicStage 3.1 that one does not need to reinitialize with the Japanese version; so this could be true since you need to do so with an English version of SonicStage 3.2. Nonetheless, do take heed of atrain's caution.

  13. I was not aware of that. Thanks.
  14. My desktop is somewhat dated: P4 2.8 GHz with 2GB 400DDR PC-3200. If you are interested, I can try similar task with my Sony TR5B subnotebook: it runs on ULV P-M 1.1 GHz with 1GB memory.
  15. You can definitely import a specific folder or a file individually with SonicStage 3.1. This is applies to SonicStage 3.2 as well. I employ StyleXP with Panther theme, MilkToolbar, Yz' Dock and Konfabulator.
  16. The file in question will convert to the default bit rate setting of your choice. If you already set it at 256kbps, the ATRAC3plus 128kbps file will be converted to 256kbps accordingly.
  17. Sorry, I do not have a damaged file on disc to test your request.
  18. I really hope they will release the necessary firmware; it just make sense to do so. I am using WinXP Pro SP2 with additional customized themes, Yz' Dock and Konfabulator.
  19. Download Sony's official Sonicstage v3.2 Installer (requires Internet to install and registration at the forums), at ATRACLife Downloads: http://www.atraclife.com/downloads/details.php?file=2 First of all, thanks to alanisrox69 for the link. I never thought I would be testing SonicStage 3.2 this weekend since its official release date was set on July 27, 2005. Nonetheless, here's my brief evaluation: The most pleasant change or improvement to version 3.2 is stability and speed. The interface itself remains unchanged but one will feel that it's somewhat smoother than version 3.1. However, I won't say it's less bloated so to speak. Its memory usage hovers around 6,500 K to 7,000 K with initial startup; and it will increase to about 10,000 K during conversion of CD --> ATRAC3plus. Are you guys ready for the next addition? We will never see ATRAC3plus the same again as a format that only offer three bitrates: 256kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. SonicStage 3.2 expands its band to 320kbps! Right now, we can convert CDs into ATRAC3plus in the following bitrates: 320kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. (* in reference to conversion speed, converting a track (WAV format) of 4:10 min to ATRAC3plus 320kbps takes about 9 secs.) However, the new bitrates cannot be used with current HiMD, HDD and Flash based device. However, all of these bitrates work for the PSP. Another notable mention is the removal of DRM restriction on .oma files. However, I have yet to test if this is true. Overall, the new version is indeed a welcome improvement. 20. [Edited slightly by kurisu] Download Sony's official Sonicstage v3.2 Installer (req. Internet to install), at Minidisc Community Downloads (req. registration at the forums): http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=23 -------- First of all, thanks to alanisrox69 for the link. I never thought I would be testing SonicStage 3.2 this weekend since its official release date was set on July 27, 2005. Nonetheless, here's my brief evaluation: Thanks to MDfreak, Administrator of MDcenter.nl for this diamond in the rough: Also, it seems as if Sony has answered our prayers in regards to uploads of Live Recordings! In the past, it was required that you can only upload a self-recorded track (from an analog source) once and then Sonicstage would disallow you to transfer it further. With Sonicstage 3.2, users may enjoy unlimited uploads of tracks with no restrictions whatsoever. Are you guys ready for the next addition? We will never see ATRAC3plus the same again as a format that only offer three bitrates: 256kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. SonicStage 3.2 expands its band to 320kbps! Right now, we can convert CDs into ATRAC3plus in the following [bolded = new] bitrates: 320kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. (* in reference to conversion speed, converting a track (WAV format) of 4:10 min to ATRAC3plus 320kbps takes about 9 secs.) However, the new bitrates cannot be used with current Hi-MD devices. Various users at ATRACLife have reported some of the new bitrates work for Sony Hard Drive disc units. Overall, the new version is indeed a welcome improvement.
