  1. So more questions from the new guy... So my dad had an extra pack of rechargable AAs from our Sony Cybershot. These are 2500mAh NiMH batteries. Would these be an ok replacement for the NiCd battery that the unit came with and can I charge these or am I going to have to look for a charger as well? Thanks for your help thus far. Its made the change to this new unit a lot smoother.
  2. Im using the analog in and even though there is nothing playing from the audio source(my iPod mini) it still records. On another note, the rechargable battery died in two hours of playing today and now it wont charge. Should I consider it dead?
  3. I'm happy to report that my N707 has arrived and is in good order. Also the hack mentioned elsewhere in the forums went through flawlessly. Now Im having minor problems with synchro-recording. How reliable is that normally?
  4. Well its here. Anything special besides the hack that I can do? Also anything besides the broken cable that I should look out for?
  5. What exactly is wrong with the recording head and is it easy to fix? Keep in mind Im kind of limited on tools.
  6. Thanks for your warnings. i was able to locate a unit on ebay so this topic is kind of useless now. On another note though. Once it arrives, what are some tips and tricks I can try with it.
  7. So Ive come across an N707 with what the owner claims to be a misaligned recording head(I assume this is the case because it plays but not records). Is it fixable and how much if it is?
  8. This may be a bit ambitous of me but Im looking for a N707 unit for under 60 dollars(without shipping) Reason is that I need a unit to record with that has an optical and line in(the recording sources arent all digital). I also like the look of the N707 and the fact that I can modify the firmware to make it a higher end model. I already have discs since I own an NF520D. Anyone out there willing to help out?
  9. Yeah I did and I thank you for the offer but Im looking for something a bit closer to home since I want to verify the unit works prior to purchasing. Thanks though
  10. Well I installed it and ran a burn session through RealPlayer. No dice, still coughing up bad discs. Should I make an attempt in SonicStage? Ive always been told SOnicStage is the devil so Ive been avoiding it. Should I use it though?
  11. Well as you who read the tech support forum know, my NF520D is pretty much dead. Im still looking for a reasonable MD player to buy. Anyone got one? Im in the San Francisco area so that would save time on shipping and Im willing to spend no more than 70 dollars on the unit. Anyone got anything that matches?
  12. Im running Windows XP Home SP1 I started out in SonicStage 1.5 and them moved up to 2.3. Im running RealPlayer11 and SimpleBurner 2.0
  13. Hey everyone I recently purchased a used NF520D from a friend. It appeared to be in good condition and it 15 dollars + 5 discs, I thought it would be ok. He assured me it burned before using RealPlayer Guess what, it doesnt. It plays back all teh discs he's given me, but any discs I make dont playback. It acts as if everything went well. But when I go to playback, after 10 seconds it stops playing and starts skipping really badly Methods tried: new software(Sonicstage, SimpleBurner, RealPlayer 11) codec reinstall cleaning the player head with a Maxell MD-CL cleaner Anything else left to try or should I return the unit as dead? Thanks for all your help
