I'm currently using SS 3.2 and I haven't had a single problem. I have a NH900 and I always record in HI SP, I transfer to SS, name the tracks and burn CD's all in SS 3.2 I'm tempted to upgrade, I just don't know why I should.

Thnks for the input guys, It's great to have a place to go when you need another opinion.

No auxilary input.

Any opinions on this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/iPod-MP3-Player-Car-Wi...1QQcmdZViewItem

I don't have a cassette deck. Just a CD player. I guess the FM transmitter is the way to go. Would the FM transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter charge the battery in my MD?

I purchased a NH 900 a while back and did all my research here on this site. Everyone here was really good about helping out. Now my family is planning a road trip and I'd like to be able to play my Himd through the car's system so everyone can hear. What's the best way to do this?

I have the NH900 with the sony 907 mic. I played my guitar and sang with the mic about 3 feet in front of me. Hi sen. gave me a pretty clean recording, when I switched to low sens. the sound was so soft I could barely hear the recording. This is with an acoustic guitar.......

Mrsoul, we usually just sit around a table (4-5 people) and practice our songs. We sing barbershop quartet style. I placed my 907 mic up high above us on a shelf, used the mic jack & default settings. I've only used it once, but I must say that this is the best sounding recording I've ever made. I appreciate all the help that you and Dex provided me, as I've gone through 3 different recorders trying to get a good clean sound.

Ponga, I'm pretty new here............but from what I've read it is all about the microphone!! You can have the best recorder money can buy, but with a cheap mic. you'll have low quality recordings. You'll also want to stay away from the mics that plug straight into the recorder, they will pick up the mechanical noise from the recorder. I am pretty happy with my 907. I also record singing (no instruments) Read this thread for more info, there is also a link on this thread for a Sound Pro mic. either one of these mics will work great. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7874

Dex & Mrsoul, thanks for all the help. I'll go to Radio Shack and give it a try. Another thing I found this Mic. from Sound Professionalshttp://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...item/SP-SPSM-17, how does this mic compare to the 907? I noticed that you can get it with a 2 meter cable.

Everyone here has been very helpfull with answering all my questions. I have one more question. (For now anyway) I have a Sony MS-907, pictured on my avatar. The cable is about 4-1/2 feet long. Is there a way to change the cable, I was hoping to go about 6 feet long. The reason I would like the longer cable is for better microphone placement. Also would this effect the sound quality at all. Maybe I could add some kind of an extention??

<=========LOL, the first time I heard Atrac.......I Thought 8 track (36 yrs old)

Dex, my nh900 came with a couple of extra filters. What are these for? Can they be used to filter out this noise from the AC?
-
I read on a thread here once that if you're recording while the unit is plugged into AC outlet, you will pick up noises that are not there if you're using the battery. Is this true?
-
Are there any real cool leather cases for the 900 that anyone knows about?
-
Whew............looks like I can rest easy. All my recordings are 5 to 8 minute indivdual tracks, usually in Hi-SP.
-
Swingdude, I'm certainly no expert here but it came down to the NH1 or the NH900 for me. I chose the NH900, simply because you have the option of adding a AA battery if your rechargable runs low. I don't understand why this feature wouldn't be on the NH1. From what everyone has told me there is no difference in the recording quality between these two models.

A lot of great info here, thanks guys.

With the latest version 2.3, are people still having trouble losing files? Are all the bugs worked out of it yet? I've only tried it a couple times and it seems to be working pretty good. Also the wav conversion has worked..........so far. Is Marc's program more reliable than the one from Sony? Like I said so far so good, but I'd hate to lose some files down the road. Reading these threads has made me a little nervous about using the Sony software.

Saz, I'm glad you posted the link. I was looking for it myself. Nick

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep them in mind.

Also, is there a way to hook up 2-mic's to the NH900?
-
Patti, I'm also in a singing group. I chose the Sony NH900, I'm 100% convinced that you couldn't get higher quality recorder. It also has the option of adding a AA battery to the rechargeable that the unit comes with. Of course you'd have to find a good microphone.

So I ordered my NH900, it's coming on Monday. I have the ECM 907 microphone. I'm part of singing group, barber shop quartet style. We practice sitting around a table. Where should I start on set-up? Mic. Sensitivity - Hi or Low? Any tips would be appreciated.

Dex, I just purchased the Nh900. Mainly because of the battery and being able to attach AA's if I need to. I emailed a few company's with questions and only one answered. Minidisco.com, so guess who got my business........... I'm glad I found this site as it looks like there's plenty of good info here.
