  1. Sure thing. I've put the file here: ss31_example.zip Let me know if there's anything else you need. Eric
  2. Greetings Fellow HiMD fans, Over the weekend I got a notice from Sony that Sonic Stage v3.1 is now available. You can go here to check it out: Sonic Stage 3.1 I grabbed it and tried a few basic operations with my MZ-NHF800 and all seemed to work. One nice new feature is that PCM tracks are optionally saved in .WAV format when you upload them. Going further, I used it to copy a new CD to an MD80 in HiMD format (300k). That works fine too, but when I tried the various track listing apps available in these forums they broke on the new disc. I opened up the trkidxXX.hma files in a hex editor and found that they are pretty much empty (the artist field did show up, but no track names). Interestingly, the track information shows up fine in SonicStage, so it must be encoded in the main data file somewhere. Also worth noting - there's a new file in the Hmdhifi directory - Text_gXX.hma - but it doesn't seem to have anything interesting in it. So, Looks like Sony's messing with us. Ain't it fun trying to keep up with proprietary systems? Eric
  3. Here's a short one (15 seconds) - a live recording of a bird sitting in the branches outside my office window. This section is short, cut from a longer session. The whole recording is about 5 minutes long and includes a lot of ambient sounds, including cars driving by, gates opening, car doors slamming. It really highlights the sensitivity of the mics and recorder. The biggest lesson learned is that the AGC should be used with caution! Equipment used: MZ NHF800 with home-made binaural electrets (not mounted binaural though) Eric
  4. I agree - that flexible USB connector seems fairly fragile. I'm not so worried about the USB connector itself because when my NHF800 is connected to the computer it's sitting on the desk with the cable coiled up next to it with very little stress on the connection. When plugging/unplugging, make the connection carefully and don't torque on it - pull straight out. My N505 recorder has lasted for years with no damage whatsoever except for the silver paint on the corners wearing away to gray plastic and a light scratch on the LCD window. Of course I always keep it in the thick fleece carrying pouch my wife made for it so it's had a somewhat sheltered life...
