  1. Firstly is it possible? Secondly if it is, how do we contact Sony to express our interest in a firmware upgrade?
  2. Thats what I'm expecting, so at the moment I'm not chucking my MP3s (I have some discs I MP3ed up when I had a Creative Jukebox, and to all the people that complain about SonicStage, you should have checked that software out!) just yet. Guess any new stuff I'll have to make duplicates of (there is a way to justify a new HDD to the better half).
  3. I wonder if in this one you will be allowed to convert from ATRAC to MP3. I cant seem to do it in 2.3 (I have a sony MP3 system in the car). Be nice to see all the converted moulded into one. Have dates been release for these hardware releases? (ala when do we really get to find out what its like?)
  4. For the guys commenting about prices I might have the lowest price yet. So much so I was shocked when I saw them for this price (and yes I'm thinking about going back tommorrow to get a couple more). For the Aussies in the forum check JB Hi-Fi, they have 1Gb discs (Sony ones, Blue cover) for $4.75 each. I grabbed what 3 discs at Marion going to check the one in the city (Adelaide) tommorrow night. BTW thats Aussie $ in the price there, probably about $4 US but havent checked on the exchange rate
  5. I have mine (600 model not the 600D) in my backpack, in the "ipod holder". I've sprant (probably not the word but sprint doesn't sound right) after the bus with my bag bouncing around (a fair shock I would say) and it didn't jump. I had it skip once and that was a sliding impact shock (it spun me around, yes I'm a maniac that usually ends up running for the bus), but not 100% sure it was the MD that gave the skip or my headphones/remote having a wiring dummy spit. Now that you have a 1Gb model its probably a good thing to go for, a heap of tracks on there and you can shuffle between them or set up groups.
  6. I got 3 with my player, and they have all been filled up! Gonna get another two this weekend, one purely for recording off the radio (when I work out how to do it with my stereo) each week (in Australia we have a live show every week, I'll probably record a few of them), and the other for all my christmas CDs I got!
  7. The discs are pretty easy to find in Australia, I pick mine up for AU$9 a disc (same price as minidisc au), at a place called JB Hi-Fi, I dont think they have an online store (they arent good at organisation). I'm quite suprised they are hard to find over in the US
  8. Add to the fact that its got AA batteries with it, and if you are anything like me, you tend to forget to recharge an inbuilt battery (why I wont get an ipod at the moment), so you need to have a good battery source (I carry 4 AA batteries, all rechargables with me!) Only problems I've have is with a dogey remote I picked up (MC33EL), which had a wiring problem (ala tweak the cord and it works). Guess the solder is coming loose, might have to investigate.
  9. This might be a bit of an ingoramus comment. I think the Blu-Ray DVD will be the succeeding format for a few reasons. 1. It had a larger capacity than the HD-DVD, which is the reason for stepping up from DVD. 2. The media has already started talking about Blu Ray here (Australia), whist nothing has been said about HD-DVD. Getting people interested is something that can be hard to do, especially if you are running a competing format (personally I dont think format wars are a good thing). 3. Playstation 3. Sony have already stated that they are using a Blu Ray techonology in the Playstation 3. If this can read Blue Ray Movie discs, then it would go a long way to getting Blue Ray movies into homes. Again I dont really care for format wars (I aint buying my DVD collection again!!!!), but it will be interesting to see how they get people to uptake the BlueRay techonology. At the moment I cant see a huge demand for it (I could always see demand for DVD though even from the early days), because of the costs to get into High Definition TV for the payoffs (most people think they are nice TVs but dont want to spend the money).
  10. Thanks ROMBUSTERS, I was hoping this would be the case. I tend not to buy online (Unfortanetly I have a 28.8kbps connection due to the local telco), rather purchasing albums in stores, so its only CDs that I have transferred in.
  11. Hi all. I'm currently a happy new owner of a MZ-NH600 (Aussie model) as my old Nomad Jukebox (the early battery eaters) had a dummy spit and died (I also had enough of charging batteries). I picked one of these up relatively cheap and it seems to fufil everything I need from a walkman. I have one concern/question, and its the old thorny issue of the DRM protection of tracks. I know that only one upload from the MD to the PC is allowed, and I'm fine with that (I might record some live shows off the radio, but generally I just by all my albums). What my concern is if I use Sonicstage 2.3 how many times can I send a track down to my MD player? I've seen varying numbers in searches on the forums/net (3, 7, unlimited), and was wondering whether I should make a backup of my library now rather than find out I have to rerip all the albums again. I'm planning on using the MD to do a few "Mix tapes" (not really tapes are they!) for parties that I have so if I'm going to get tracks limited I'd prefer a way around this. Oh also thanks to the guys who contriubute and run this site, its extremely helpful (got an old remote coming to me for this model too, found out which ones I could use through here).
