1. Because of the painful experience using SS and Connect, I sold my NW-A3000 which I love the design of.... Can't remember which version I was using though. Now I am drawn to the design and quality of A808, and so disappointed to find out that you still need SS to upload music to it... Is SS more stable now? I would not want to buy A808 and later forced to sell it cause of the software.
  2. Or, use winamp or musicmatch to rip, then drag and drop to import those mp3 into Connect.

    NW-A3000's USB Cable

The BCR-NWU1 cradle doesn't come with a data cable. It only come with a charging cable. If you want to use it for charging + data transfer, u need to plug in the usb cable that's come with your player... or buy another cable. and i have no idea that cable is soooo expensive in UK. In singapore, you can order one for SGD39(and I thought that's expensive). Take about 1~2 week to arrive though. In the first place, why Sony make the usb cable a proprietary one? If it use those standard small usb jack, we can just buy any usb cable for a few dollars.

    NW-A1000 die on me

    >>> that is why you have a 30 day return/exchange policy at these stores... That's not common around my area. At most 7 days one-on-one exchange. That's why I called Sony Cust first, I thought I have a higher chance with them. Anyway, gotten my replacement unit and happy using it.

    NW-A1000 die on me

I called Sony Customer Service, and they told me they dont have a one-on-one exchange policy, even thought the players is with me for only 3 days. They ask me to send it in for repair. Feeling sad, I brought my unit to the dealer instead, to my pleasant surprise, they offered to change a new unit for me straight away. Because they only had stock in Violet colour, so they called and ordered the replcement for me. I was told to collect it tomorrow.
  8. not really, Creative did drag & drop since their Nomad time. My first mp3 player was Creative, and all the while creative until I got my NW-A1000, so I actually thought MOST players did drag n drop. Yeah, I know about the non drag-n-drop and Connect being hard to use, among others things, but I still bought it because of the design and sound quality.

    NW-A1000 die on me

I guess that's my only option now... Just is a hastle to take time off my schedule to go to the dealer..
It's a shame cause I really love this player a lot. With its design alone I was willing to overlook it's proprietary usb cable, no FM, no recording, non-flash base, sucky software, no drag & drop.... I really love it when it works, looks great and sounds excellent.
too bad this should happend.

    NW-A1000 die on me

Help!! My nw-a1000 just died on me one morning. i cant start the player nor can get the PC to detect it. When I press any of the buttons, all buttons light up, including the link button, but the screen show nothing. Pressing or hold the 'hold' button does nothing. The light will keep on and the player will become warm to the touch after a while. clicking 'reset' turn the buttons light off, but still wont restart to normal status. Anyone encountered this? Any suggestion to try before I send it in to Sony Support? btw, I charged using the cradle, my player firmware is 2.01, and I am using Connect auto-updated version for transfer. System is XP sp2.
