i erased my hard drive COMPLETELY and just started over, it works now, but it really sucks i had to do that

whenever i go to control panel, and uninstall, it just says, modifications have been made, i restarted like 10x and reinstalle dand uninstalled etc, it wont go away. i mean, i want it, but it cant be installed, it just says modifications have been made, and when i start it, and as soon as i click recored, it shuts doen. PLEASE help; ( i have tried EVERYTHING in the faq on how to remove,a nd still, it says maintenence complete and ti doesnt do anything!)
