  1. Thanks A440.... i'll give it a try.... rick
  2. Yeah, like my other post says I've been very happy w/ the Church Audio preamp. I think and adjustable knob would be much more convenient. Too, I haven't had a chance to use the +20 gain setting so I can't comment about how a recording would come out. Using the -20 setting in loud situations works well. Nothing overloads... i just have to boost the gain in post-production. ricardo
  3. I've been running microphone maddness' high end cartioid mics into a church audio preamp/battery box (available at ebay) with very good results.
  4. Hey There! Well, I'll tell you about my experience. I run Mic Madness High End mini mics into a cheap batt box/preamp made my chuch audio and sold on ebay for about $50. I'd have to say that it works excellently for me. I've recorded a couple of shows both loud and soft and neither the preamp nor mics have overloaded enough to cause distortion. THe only problem w/ this preamp is that it has a selectable gain, +/- 20db, I'd prefer to see a slide gain selector. In any case, all of my shows are recorded at -20db b/c the mics are extremely sensitive and pick up a lot! I've never had a problem w/ distortion.... other problems w/ my minidisc, yes, but never a sound quality issue.... hope this helps! ricardo
  5. Hi All! I'm having a problem with some of my recordings and I was hoping someone could give me an idea of what might be wrong. The issue is this: I'm taping some shows onto my Sony MZ-R70 and when I play them back, somtimes there are gaps. When I look at the timer on the unit, it looks like it's pausing at the troubled spot before resuming. Naturally, when I transfer the show to my hardrive, there are gaps with no sound, some large and some small. My question is, do you think this is a recording problem or a playback problem? The discs themselves appear clean. Not all of my discs skip too either, so could it be a problem with the actual minidiscs themselves? I use Memorex 80 min discs. I've tested my mics and preamp with other gear and haven't had a problem so I know the problem lies w/ the minidisc in some way. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this just a common problem w/ older players? Any help would be greatly appreaciated! thanks in advance! ricardo
