  1. I've seen SO little about the Sharp MD units. What do you experts think about the Sharp MD-MT280S? It's price seems reasonable and I've heard that the Sharp units have advantages over the SONY. These are the sorts of things I've heard from reading lots of different postings on the net but DON'T refer to the unit above at all: 1.) They are quieter 2.) You don't have to continually reset the manual record feature 3.) It's easier to navigate the controls.... more user-friendly 4.) It's just better made What do you think? And do you know anything about the Sharp MD-MT280S? Thanks
  2. SO, to make it perfectly clear for us MAC users who are musicians, composers who want to RECORD LIVE music with a Sony Hi-MD unit.... there is NO WAY to do ANYTHING BUT play the music back through headphones or a stereo... we can't transfer the musical data into our MAC's to burn a CD for someone else to play on a regular old fashioned CD player, right? OR, is the only way to do it in real time with a line out from the MD to the computer. In that case it would probably be analog and I'd have to have some sort of software on my MAC to convert the signal to digital... like an a/d converter. Don't know? This is all such a mess. I run MAC OS 9, by the way. All this great new technology to record with and it looks like I can only use about half of it's capabilities. I had thought that Sharp might have a better more friendly way to transfer files from the MD to the computer for us MAC users but from what I've read on this site, this is not true, right? Thanks. =)
  3. I'm new here. Been reading this series of posts. I'm a musician who wants to be able to record live performances and my piano at home as well (not for final "studio" quality but hopefully decent). I've read about the superiority of the Sharp as the other guy here in varying features. Is it really true there are NO Sharp Hi-MD recorders out there? And if there aren't... can't you still record around 2 hours of live music on a Sharp unit?
