  1. Someone might have called it, but I'd be interested in any Pearl Jam. I wish to own only 1 pre-recorded minidisc just to see how they are packaged. Please let me know!
  2. I dunno what to tell you, I have an RH10 and the only album I have so far that I "couldnt play" was the Beatles Revolver - the only Beatles album I put on it as MP3 - I even uploaded it again but removed all the ID3 info, still no luck. Eventually I'll go back and try again with a new rip or different Beatles album, but not a priority. Good luck to you and hopefully someone can help you out. I guess knowing what kind of files you put on could help too.
  3. 10 gigs of space? Didnt realize there was so much available. I only shared one file so far, but thanks Reactive!
  4. Its gonna bump this up big, but just want to say thanks to all.
  5. You're correct that I just boosted the decibel level. During my editing process, I thought I should just cut out the excessive crowd noises and then maybe normalize it, but I was mostly done so I just went ahead and completed it the way you mention. In regards to the Mic placement, I basically only had them about a foot apart (I didnt discern between right and left placement because I was trying to be "stealthy") but I was at the right side of the hall close to the front so I figured it didnt matter. As for the the abrupt applause end, that wasnt the last song, so I had left it running (thats where I would have put a mark) but thanks for the idea of just fading out, though in the edits I had been removing as much applause as possible. As for the applause sounding more realistic, thats funny that you say that as it was loud in there, maybe I will keep it in during another re-edit. (I have the original WAVs of course). Also, as you've been quite helpful already, during a show you are recording, you dont do any bass-rolloff or whatever? You just adjust the Recording level lower as to not overload? I'm curious to know just cause then I wont have to buy anything additional. Thanks again.
  6. Leaf - I've "mastered" all I have, but wouldnt know where to post it all, (76 megs as MP3 or 560 as WAV) A440 - I was using Manual Volume through MIC IN. and Green Machine - I should ask, so a volume attenuator isnt useful to (in the future) reduce just the bass frequencies? I would have to have a battery box? I am aware of this thread here of course: (thread) I'm just not quite familiar with all the technology options/nuances to recording. Thanks for your posts!
  7. So on Friday I went to see the Hartford Symphony perform Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy (Video game for those that dont know). It was an excellent show, I missed the first song and didnt get to set up recording till partly into the third song so thats incomplete. I basically clipped the mics to the open zipper of my sweatshirt, too close of course, but I was more toward the right of the theater than the middle. The crowd was loud and overwhelming but I edited the files in Cool Edit to clean it up and to amplify it a little. Also one or two songs had a flamenco guitarist and I think his playing distorted some of the recording. Ah well, first try, so here are the details Ok, my setup was simply SP-BMC-03 -- RH10, I didnt have a volume attenuator (didnt seem to need it in the end) but I had asked at Radio Shack and they didnt have that (maybe the guy didnt know, if someone wants to reply that they do still have them?). Also it was my first recording, had the mics in hand for only 24 hours prior. I adjusted the MIC level at some points during the show cause I thought it was too high/low, so my files are a little different but never changed it by too much in either direction. So I had it around 12 +- 2 I believe. Some people post /30 but I dont know what that means (unless its out of, but I didnt go that high). I am gonna post 3 small files, one of a Final Fantasy theme both edited and unedited and then the final song, One Winged Angel edited. This was the only song with vocals and its a not as overblown as the flamenco ones (prob because I had turned down the REC level). Anyways, Im completely new to this, so if anyone has any comments good or bad, I'd love to hear it as this forum seems an excellent outlet. 8. Damnit, sorry I didnt see this sooner, I had ordered some from Minidisco because I wanted to try them out on Friday, no way for me to get these by then anymore....
  9. Wow, anyone who wears Depends in order to sneak in equipment is a dedicated taper! I hope to attempt my first recording later this week at a classical show, so I dont think I will have too much security/searches to worry about (hopefully, I'll make a thread on that afterwards).
  10. I dont know about regular old USA Amazon, or perhaps the Minidisco site, but with the dollar valued less maybe its more worthwhile to order from over on this side of the Atlantic? I dont know of course, just a thought.
  11. Hey all, in my case, I was a fresh install of SS 3.0 cause I just got a minidisc player. Well, after installing, I kept getting errors barely into running the program, its definately old news, but in case anyone else experiences the same thing (newbie like me or not), well this page on a Windows Hotfix should be read: http://www.sony.net/Products/OpenMG/support/840987/ Basically Hotfix (KB840987) should NOT be installed (thus removed) or else it does something to OpenMG - again its prob old news, but boy was I pissed when it didnt work at first. Cheers!
  12. Had ordered my RH10 direct from J&R and called to have them pricematch BuyRite Electronics or maybe any retailer you can find via Froogle. They matched it (with a shipping cost though J&R has no shipping at this moment and since I am out of NY state it was tax-free). Maybe you should call Amazon and see what they can do for you in terms of pricing since it did come from J&R. edit: Oops, not quite sure if you are saying you ordered an RH10 but still, since they are just coming out, you (or others) should be able to do something similar! And also, this thread is old-ish, so maybe this was posted elsewhere.
  13. Wow, those recordings must have taken a LOT of time, I am impressed in that regard. But unfortunately I dont think I will be buying any as I have yet to have my RH10 in my hands. I was just keeping an eye out for any studio releases, but thanks! Good luck with your auction!
  14. Thanks streaml1ne for your fast reply! I figured it was easy to change the battery, thats one of the reasons I'm trying minidisc over something like an ipod (and their dumb battery policy) but then I came upon this thread and didnt realize how much stuff we arent getting here in the USA. I dont think I'll splurge for any the Japan version (since the US one should be at my house by now) but its too bad Sony couldnt have at least offered those here.
  15. Good afternoon all! I will receive my RH10 later this evening, my first venture into the minidisc format - and rather than create a new thread, I was wondering, Is the "gum-stick" battery on the RH10 replaceable by a novice? If so, would it be possible to get the type used in the Japanese model? Thanks in advance!
