  1. I was reading that when recording with the premium cardioid elements from sound professionals that phantom power or a 3-line battery box was often necessary in loud environments. My question is what is a 3-line battery box? I have a SP-SPSB-6 battery box right now. Is this considered to have 3-lines and if not could someone direct me towards one? Thanks!
  2. Hey, for some reason I am prone to always getting much more bass in my live recordings than I want, and usually ending up turning it down up to 30dB on the equalizer when I edit the songs. I use a Sony RH10 recorder, a SP battery box and SP-CMC8 omni mics run through the line-in. My question is: does it make a difference in the final product whether you use the bass-roll off as you are recording or if you just turn down the bass with an EQ after the recording? Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to why the recordings are so bassy to begin with? Thanks!
  3. haha... I just bought this battery from ebay. I'll let you guy's know how it works when it arrives. The guy's got really high reviews, and it was only $10 total so if it doesn't I won't be too concerned.
  4. Hey, I bought the same mics in February 2005. I got a lot of use out of them with my RH10 and they do have quite good sound for the price. They were a little bassy for my liking even with my bass-roll off cranked as high as it can go. The left channel started to go bad in February this year and has stopped working all together. Definately a great mic for the price and a very good seller, but I think I'm going to upgrade to a high end sound professionals mic now that I've got the funds.
  5. I've been recording with my RH10 since it came out last spring. I bought a cheaper microphone and have used it with a sound professional's battery box with bass roll off. That worked fairly well for most of my needs but the mic is nearly on the fritz. In June I will be attending the Bonnaroo festival in Nashville and am looking for the best mic I can get for under $300 if possible (I want to go all out). From what I understand it will be fairly windy there so it will have to be an omni-directional mic correct? Any suggestions of mics and/or useful accessories that will get very high quality recordings with minimal noise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  6. Hey, I was wondering whether or not to use windscreens when recording at an indoor venue with omni-directional mics. Cheers!
  7. I'm using omni mics. This is probably a stupid question but how do you completely turn off the sound professional bass roll off. Do you just set all the switches to closed?
  8. Hey, I've been recording shows for a few months now at bars and small venues but will be at the Gorge amphitheater at the end of the month. Does anyone know what the optimum setting for the bass roll off frequency, using a sound professionals battery box, would be for such a large and loud event? Cheers.
  9. Hey, what are the advntages disadvantages of using either mic in or line in?
  10. Hey, I'm wondering what's the best way to get past security with all your recording equipment intact. Without metal detectors isn't too bad, but what about with? Not that any of us would ever illegally bootleg a live show...
