hmm, the thing is, I am not sure if you need to condition the headphones with loud volume. I think it says that the headphones improve as you use them, regardless of what volume you use. I could be wrong though. But I don't think the volume would be low because of the headphones. what headphones are you using? Do you have access to another camera that you could use to take higher resolution photos of the unit. To be honest I've not seen any fake sony mp3 players yet, not fake but knock offs of current models.

no, the user bought it from a store in greece, some large supermarket, Multirama. Athough I would recommend J&R for purchases.

hmm not sure, you'd have to download them and find out what kind of file it is, and compare them to the official files from sony, there is a a thread in the hhd area, http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?...;hl=screensaver but the link from sony doesn't work anymore.

orly hehe, well then that is good news since the adapter is rated for international power We should really compile some kind of a faq for the new 800 series. :/
-
Anyone know the battery specs on the 800 series and what battery it has? I would guess that it is also 5V since of the usb? but what mA? I have my old A1000/3000 charger, specs output 5V at 800mA, I wouldn't mind using it to charge it if I could safely but I can't seem to find battery info anywhere on the net.
-
I really don't believe sony would sacrifice quality over price. If they have, then I would strongly suggest people boycott the B series since it goes against sony's mantra of quality.

I just checked the Sonystyle website General Built-in Li-ion Rechargeable Battery USB Recharging through PC: Approx. 120min (full charge), Approx. 90min (approx. 80%) Input/Output Terminals: Headphones (stereo mini), USB (2.0 compliant) PC Connection: High Speed USB, Direct USB key Dimensions: 25×89.9×16.7mm (W x H x D) Weight: 30g so it means the units are USB 1.1 but will work with USB 2.0

Ascariss' NWZ-A818 Quick Review (US bought)
Ascariss replied to Ascariss's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Ok more thoughts on the player. I don't like how it creates folders for all the different songs and so forth :/ would have just preferred it reading the info from the id tags rather than making folders. the supplied headphones, the EX-82s, sound quite good but are not the most comfortable compared to my older EX-71s. Their sound is fine but as was mentioned in other threads, they don't isolate sound as much as the EX-71s. So I think I will be sticking to my trusty 71s for now. Playlists. It took me a while to get another playlist onto the device since I must have been doing something wrong. But rest assured I am glad to see that files are not duplicated with playlists that have identical songs. hehe. videos. Well some m4v play on the device, others do not :/ so a bit of a dissapointment. -
How much was the unit when you bought it? did it come with all the warrenty? Is there any sony store near your house? or a store that sells sony products? If so, perhaps call the stores ask if they have any 700s around and then go and do a sound comparison with your's and the one in the store. Maybe the noise cancelling is on?

Hmm a let down, hopefully the media manager for the walkman will be better. Maybe they are testing it out on the SE phones for now since such a large base of them out there. If the Media Manager (MM) fails to deliver, I'll stick to WMP11 and/or drag and drop.
-
Good news from sony, they had to fix it, since they might be liable for damages the bug creates.
-
I would assume it should say it on the back. as is shown in this thread: image posted by andrew http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3757 arvacon is from greece and the user replied in greek, I would suggest he PM arvacon privately if they wish to speak in greek

Ascariss' NWZ-A818 Quick Review (US bought)
Ascariss replied to Ascariss's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I've always avoided sonicstage if and when I could and this was no exception for the NW-A1000/3000 models. The only time I've used sonicstage was with my minidisc. Although that wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. It crashed a few times but it worked fine, but once i upgraded to a newer version a few years back, I couldn't only transfer over stuff, some other functions caused it to crash on me. I only used connect player once the new units came out, it wasn't perfect I admit that, it crashed of course but it transfered fine. Once the newest version of CP came out, and the one before this one, I've not had any issues with it since. Compared to WMP11, conncet player just doesn't cut it now. Takes a while for it to open fully, 30 seconds, and doesn't run as smoothly as I would hope on my pc. WMP11 doesn't look bad, I never really wanted a program to sort my library or organize it, I do that myself, since I use winamp. But WMP11 isn't bad, i personally like the transfer area and when you drag stuff into the sync area and press syncs fine. I've not tested any automated syncing nor photos nor gapless (already been tested), nor videos. I will probably do most of that today. The WMP11 library looks quite good, clean yet organized, and using itunes (7) for podcasts I can say that microsoft has made a better product. I am sure that a podcast option could be easily added to WMP11 and firmware upgrade provided for the mp3 players which would allow of easy syncing of podcasts. As for the media manager that is due to be released, who really knows how that will function and if it will be any good. Here's hoping for good things. sum up: sonicstage - bad, never used it since it was unstable for me connect player - once updated ran fine, albiet slowly WMP11 - seems to be the winner, fast and easy to use. -
I waited patiently and realized sony canada, was in no hurry to sell the 8 gig model here. I ordered one from the US, and with our dollar being so good right now compared to the US, I only paid 235 CAN dollars with shipping and duties, this is 10 dollars more than the equal 4 gig model here. So yes was worth the price. Initial impressions, it is really small, way smaller than I thought it would be. It is a bit heavier than I expected but solidly built so no worry there. I like the hold button in the back, really nicely placed, the screen looks good, nice and bright. Start up is fast and menu response fantastic. Looks way better than an Ipod or anything else on sale. I snapped some photos, and added a quick compare to the A1000. I can snap more pictures in the daytime tomorrow. Also I didn't know WMP 11 was needed for windows explorer to pick up the device. anyways. sound quality = great build quality = great I love it already, btw the headphones that come with the player, not the best for me, not comfortable. :/ Details.txt quick edit, I got playlists working on it, i tried importing a winamp playlist, but that didn't work, so I created one in wmp and then dragged the winamp playlist from windows explorer into WMP11 and it added the songs in the same order and with no issues, then saved the playlist, and moved it to the player. the playlist appears under the playlists in the player. Sorry if that was mentioned before but if it wasn't well here it is.

uhm, not sure, i believe the updates removed it from the player. although now it says, good music good day on my A1000.

The old mindisc unit has been locked away for 2 years now, so it deserves a better home where someone could make better use of it. its the 10th anniversary model (yes I am sure you all know this), it comes with: -AC adapter, north american market one -docking station along with usb cable -optical cable (never used) -battery case -leather carrying case for belt -remote (Sony RM-MC33ELK) -2 80 Min MD discs, unopened, so new -all documents, 2 manuals english/french -headphones (MDR-E805) the headphones came with the unit that I bought, it was the last one at the store. The player works fine, plays normally and records with no problems. The remote is fine works perfectly. There are no scratches or marks on the recorder. The unit is silver in colour. I can ship only to canada, US and Europe, I am looking for 150 US or best offer, plus cost of shipping. I accept paypal (verified customer only). Please PM me for more information. I can add pictures if anyone wants me to.

maybe you should retrace your steps a few hour to a few days back? maybe it got shorted out?
-
Ok so it's been a while, any news on when this goes on sale in Japan? Assuming the price of 47800 remains, it comes out to be around 389 Canadian dollars, which isn't bad for a 16 GB player, but I do hope if and when it goes on sale here it will be a tad cheaper.
-
Why doesn't sony just release atrac as a normal codec with no drm? and add it to their players.

Great Deal on Sony MD Deck MDS-JE480 (Not Anymore!)
Ascariss replied to vaiofreak's topic in Classifieds
nice catch hehe. -
hmm indeed, the EX90s from ebay are a bargain for me now, 81 canadian with shipping compared to 149 dollars at the store.
-
ok there are 2 solutions that I can see now, one drastic and the other the sensible one. 1. take it to a sony authorized dealer to get it fixed, i'd get a quote first for cost of fixing it. if it's over a 50-100 bucks, don't get it fixed, not worth it. now for the drastic 2. open it up and see if a cable or the headphone jack is loose, perhaps you can fix it yourself. this could end in either you fixing the unit, or totally breaking it. if you opt for #2 and it breaks (hope it don't) take the unit completely apart and dissect it and do a tear apart of it and perhaps chris or yoshi can stick it on the front of the blog, seeing as I've not seen a take apart of a sony A1000.
-
why are you listening at such a high volume? O_O I rarely go above 14 and 15 is rare for me. I've had my a1000 for 2 years now, granted didn't use it for the entire 2 years but probably around 75 of the time, since the A3000 was a bit cumbersome , battery time is still the same as when I tested it when I got it, 10-14 hours. question what kind of headphones are you using? you don't need to condition the battery when you get it, there is no need for that, you only need to condition it when battery life begins to be affected.
-
are you referring to the USB transfer cable? is that what you want? the model number from the sony US site is WMC-NW20MU, maybe you can go down to your local sony store and ask them to order one for you?
-
don't count on it, unless the remote has bluetooth built into it.
