any word of release in japan? or is this unit squarely aimed at the us market?
-
Anyone seen the B100 series on sale anywhere? no mention of it on sonystyle canada, only a800 and new E series. wierd.
-
nope I don't think so, it doesn't work on the hdd units, so and I think someone mentioned that you can't rollback to previous version.
-
maybe try another usb port? or reinstall the plugin?
-
uhm stupid question did you use sonicstage or connect player to transfer the files? if no then the files won't play, unless you have some plugin for winamp that will allow to transfer files to the player, stuff transferred using normal winamp will NOT play on the device. so please install sonicstage 4.1 and use that to transfer the files, otherwise IT WILL NOT WORK. lol.
-
lol 20 to 30, a bit high might I add. the eq is a bit different than my setting but I am sure your volume and the accessing of the player is the main cause. do this, discharge the player 2-3 times fully, then reload each time to full, should bring the battery back, otherwise your battery is shot.
-
what volume are you listening to it at? since that will determine how much battery life you get. what about accessing the player? how often do you do it? every few min or almost never? estimating, i get about 6-8 hours on my a1000, the battery usually runs down to 1/3 or 3/4 after listening to 3-4 hours. I only use mp3s though, and all are encoded at 320 kbps, so I am not surprised this is the max life for me. I'm alos using a 15 second screen, the brightness is so to the middle, and no screensaver. volume ranging from 8-12. so 2.5 hours is not normal, its really poor to be honest.

I'm in the dark just as you guys are, don't really know what is happening. I would think that with the release of the new a800 and NW01x line, I would sony wants to ride out this for a while. with no clear idea if the a800 will make any us debuts, anyone in the USA shouldn't hold their breath for any new sony stuff.
-
well that blows, I've always liked connect player. might as well wait for more new sony players before replacing my units.
-
where is the relaunch? globally? north america? or just US? if sonicstage goes, so does atrac, it has little advantage over aac, and I do believe aac is gapless as well and has no licensing issues.
-
this is good things, i think sony will abandon Sonicstage and atrac and go only with mp3 and even other codecs, basically free people from drm and since lots of new songs on itunes are drm free, they will work on the sony walkmans. the future is bright for sony.
-
if u had a mp3 player that supported wma you could just transfer those files, bit if you want to avoid any quality loss, i recommend wave or atrac lossless or something higher than the wma bitrate.
-
dinko, i say wait for the fall, seeing as sony canada releases most the products that it releases in europe and japan, I would hold out, that is what I am doing with my next mp3 player purchase.
-
not sure if that is what the news on the main page will be, the new china units are for china only anyways, though. the good thing is that they are ums and no software needed, hopefully future sony models will follow this route.
-
you asked about the hdd walkman, and why none have been announced yet.
-
I think you just answered your own question.
-
the full capacity is around 18gigs on the device, perhaps you are transferring duplicate tracks? plus it depends what bitrate you use.
-
you switched the a3000 for the a800? how?
-
great review, I was gonna get one, but after the debut of the B series, I am holding out till later this year.
-
have you tried resetting the device? doesn't that bring them back from some cache or something?
-
no, just get the regular EX71s that are avaiable in the store, although the ones I bought have this on the back of hte box MDREX71SLBC1 (CA) but the front says MDR-EX71SL and the cable quality tons better than the older EX71s I have (non working at this point) so I think sony addressed the issue of cords breaking, tearing, or wearing away due to normal use since so many people were bringing them back so often.
-
Hmm, let's see, I guess you pressed the reset button at the bottom? if you have ingore this try this, even though i myelf use connect player, I had similar problems with CP at the beginning, so I suggest openning SS, and then transferring 10-15 songs or the max amount of songs into the device that SS will allow. then disconnect after each transfer in order for the device to build the library. do this until you have moved over all the songs you want. then listen away. Kia Ora Island, if that still doesn't work, check the connection at the bottom of the unit and see if its all fine, next check the cable you got with it, check to see if its all fine and good. finally shake the unit around a bit. you should not hear anything moving around, if you hear something then it probably means the device has fallen a few many times. I've dropped mine twice and nothing is flying around in it yet . oddly enough something is rattling around in my A1000 but I've not had issues or dropped that before so not sure what is rattling in it. SS stalling is not usually connected to the device not working. hope you got all that lol. Max sorry to hear about your problems, I still have another 2 year warrenty on my sony, and might have been willing to sell it, but I realized that I would not get anywhere near the money I wanted for it, at least some return on it and ya I am in canada and the extended warrenty is transferrable.
-
hmm not sure, no info on the main site or the corporate site.
-
the regular 71s here have a new cord, new material, and the stuff is much harder and better quality than the older one, so I don't think it will "rot" as you say.
