Indeed, try another USB port, I had to pick up a USB 2.0 card as well since my digicam needed it, so it came in handy when I got the A3000. This is odd though, my pc recongizes both the A1000 and A3000, as does CP and it has no problems opening the right transfer window as well.

Hmm odd, the new players so far can't play gapless atrac, that is what i heard, not tested it yet though. Hmm, isn't there an option when rippoed for it to be gapless? not done gapless atrac in a long time.lol

Agreed, winamp for sure, I hate WMP since winamp is much faster and easier to use. I would want support for playlists, artist link (if possible), play history, and all the other intelligent shuffles, if you can. But first and foremost, transfer of mp3s over to both A1000 and A3000, and playlists.

http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/6365.html Straight out of Star Trek, Sindre Lia reviews Sony's new NW-A1000 walkman audio player - you know, the one that looks like its entire front panel is one gigantic display. images: http://www.infosyncworld.com/audio/portabl...y_nw-a1000.html hhahahahahha, seriously, some people really must have crappy songs on these players. Sindre Lia must be an Ipod owner. Last time I checked, straight out of the box sound with no EQ sounded great and not mediocre. Sorry but when you are listening to the Alias soundtrack using Sound option heavy, the sound won't sound great. I got rather decent battery life out of my player, at 192, 13 hours with EQ as well. Someone on my forum did a battery test with their new video ipod, and the results were good, but not great. Using 160 mp3, they got just over 16 hours. Not that great. As for scratch prone, in the long run yes, but not short term. Seriously, reviews where people only test a product for 1 or 2 days really shouldn't be taken seriously.

qufa, why are you using this method? Didn't you get a cd with your player? use that.

4 gig nano sadly competes now with the A1000, while the 2 gig nano competes with the A608 here, prices are the same. as for the review, the person seems to have only done a 1-2 day review, the real differences come when you own it for more than a week.
-
Why not buy a silver one from the sony store, same price and they are available there.
-
Ya, it's on the website, NW-A608V http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...278&catid=23693 Very interesting find WMah, just checked, no A3000s though. Sales at BB should help out the overall sales of the unit. Checked Futureshop. not there. I am curious how BB got ahold of them.

perhaps different stores that more allocation that others, due to price perhaps? Meaning some stores asked for more from sony and recieved, while other stores under estimated demand and now have to wait for additional stock, almost like with the XBOX360 lol. Are sales of the new players that good in the UK? Sony Canada had the larger A3000 also out of stock for a 1 day, but then all good. Marylee, are you getting a bargain at this site you ordered from? If so how much are you saving? Wouldn't it be better to pay 10 pounds more and have the player already? Just asking.

Congrats on your purchase, do share your insights in the equipment reviews if possible. Next, you can't use WMP to transfer tracks as far as I know, and even if you could, i don't think any of the intelligent shuffles would work. Likewise for SonicStage, the intelligent shuffles won't work. Not sure on the playing history though. If you have been able to get Connect player working on your PC with no problems, don't stop using it, since all of your features will work then, perhaps not artist link, like you mention. Not sure you can do that really. I tried doing it on mine and no go. Perhaps this is something Sony could add in the next firmware update. Your choice for the time being is to make a playlist with the genre you want, transfer it, and then shuffle the playlist.
-
Nothing to do with firmware as far as I know, all the players should have multi-language support. You go to settings lower left hand corner, then language, and you have 9 langauge choices to use, english being one of them of course. It was easier for sony to ship all units with the multi-language support since then all you do is set it to the region's language before boxing.

Well depends what shirt you are wearing, go for the A1000 if you plan on carrying it in your shirt. Ours was discounted on the prior to its sale as well, and I believe it also had a cheaper price in japan when it went on sale.
-
Interesting, we also had a reduction in the A3000s here, but nothing on the A1000. as for your question, not twice as heavy, but the difference is noticable, the A1000 is very light and small in my opinion.

Importing my MP3s into SS3.3 corrupts the mp3s!
Ascariss replied to Bewarethefoxxx's topic in Software
Great to hear that this solved your problem. Sony does read the forums, but I doubt they will look into this, since it isn't a wide spread problem so far. Not sure what caused this to happen, perhaps another program or the installation was screwed, but so many times in a row is rather odd. I just my system and system32, no such file exists for me. Although I do have this lol. ivfsrc.ax. Well problem solved. Finally you can enjoy your new A3000. -
Ok update on my end, again, I left CP on overnight, and when I checked it this morning, 2 new albums were added. So maybe it did change something. So I hooked up the A1000 and A3000 let it sync, 10 minutes all togther, then disconnected the devices. So far none of hte songs i have tried have had any linked artists show up on either unit. I will though, go through the A1000s 440 or so songs and go in order and check for linked artists. btw, does anyone know if when you it sends info to gracenote to get the info back, does it also add to the gracenote database? I checked, some of my house music is on their database. But sadly not all. House music is just too crazy for linking artists, most have the genre house lol, so all would be linked lol. Very nice news for the plugin bluesign, looking forward to it. Any chance a plugin to winamp for playlists lol.

I have 502 on my A3000 now, I am on 1.5mbps. I left CP on overnight, now I will hook up the A3000 and see what happens.

Importing my MP3s into SS3.3 corrupts the mp3s!

Do the codec one first, much simpler, all sony did was tell you how to delete the program. talk about tech support. -
Importing my MP3s into SS3.3 corrupts the mp3s!
Ascariss replied to Bewarethefoxxx's topic in Software
Hmm something wasn't adding up before but now I see the situation more clearly. 4) I imported using the sonicstage 'import files' some mp3s into the sonicstage library. I played them in sonicstage, and they sounded terrible. These are normal 128 or 192 mp3 files which play absolutely spot on in WMP. hmm if the play horrible in SS, then that is the problem, perhaps. I am hesitant to say it is your sound card, but I won't since WMP plays the files fine, so the sound card has to be ruled out. Now I am sure the sound driver is fine, since again WMP. So the culprit has to be SS, there is something wrong with the program def. Ok crazy idea, doesn't SS3.3 have a program that allows you convert your files to atrac? perhaps isolate 10 songs and use that program to convert to an atrac bitrate you want. Then import those atrac files into SS3.3 and see if the sound problem is there. So seeing as most people really haven't had this problem, I decided to sneek over to our sister forum, minidisc.org. And yes I might have found a solution: "It was a codec problem. I have just renamed the "iviaudio.ax" in something like "iviaudio.bak" and now I can normally listen to the music with SS3.3 !" "the file is in the windows\system32 folder." If this is not the problem, then we will need to dig deeper into the problem. -
Good, if I don't have to reupload songs, I will be happy. Thanks for the info. edit, i turned on the network thingy, and hte artistlink thingy, and let CP run for 2o minuts or so, then hooked up teh player, artist link doesn't work yet, so i will let CP run over night see what happens. If I have to retransfer all the songs, I will be seriously ticked off.

Very nice promotion, why doesn't Sony Canada do stuff like this here. Our promotions here are really low grade.
-
I am curious, will the player update the id info from CP if you don't transfer the files again over?
-
Well the thing is, the new A series is quite resistant to scratches in my personal use so far, so a case although nice, isn't needed. Are there no shops on the net based in holland that sell the case? I am sure sonystyle Netherlands will have the cases for the A1000 in eventually. We had about a month delay for the cases here in canada. Are the A3000s available in the netherlands yet? I didn't see them on the sonystyle site yet. As well if possible please do post a small review of what you think of the player in the equipment review area. Please do inlcude pictures if possible. thanks http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showforum=15

Well I can only give you one side of the story, since I only have owned the A3000, but I can try to help out. Both units are 20 gigs, both can play playlists and both have great battery life. The HD5 has a removeable battery which the A3000 doesn't have. But you can replace the A3000 battery yourself with no problems and not voiding the warrenty. Connect player vs Sonicstage. This is a choice you can only make. CP only works on XP and there have been problems with it, like stability and slow speed. But CP allows you to take advantage of all the A3000s abilities and options. Some thing will not work with SS, like intelligent shuffle options. As well, in my opinion CPs library is much simpler than SS's but this is user dependent of course. Price wise? I would imagine the A3000 would be more expensive than the HD5, unless the HD5 is new, and from you are buying it from sony, then prices should be the same. Size wise? the A3000 is bigger of course, but in my opinion looks much better than the HD5 when you look at it. Heck even the HD3 looks better than the HD5. If you can, do check out both units in person, as this might shift your opinion on either. As well, sound quality in both units is top notch.

That's crazy. Solid build, would have thought the fall would kill it, but nice surprise.

I am sure they are working on it. No need to panic. I didn't tell my friends to buy it, they can stick to their ipods. lol
