  1. To complement my NW-HD1, I will probably buy a non-Sony player. I think that the sound quality of Atrac3Pplus at 64kbps is excellent for me, so was wondering what is a comparable quality in the MP3 and AAC formats. For the latter, I understand that it's 192, but what about AAC? Can CDs be ripped into AAC at 64kbps without sounding much different from Atrac3plus at the same bitrate? Thanks
  2. I am nearly in the same boat as you. I have the HD1, but it's almost out of room. (I have maybe 200 mb left.) I would love to buy another replacement from Sony, but right now there are no options. The only thing is the new Ipod Classic: 80 or 160 Gb model. I fear I am going to have to purchase one of those in the next couple of months. Why can't Sony issue something 30 gig or higher in order to be somewhat competitive with Apple?
  3. What I want for my next DAP is a large-capacity player (20GB or more). Will Sony ever put out another one? Thirty or 40 gigs would be awesome. Nearly all of my files are ripped into Atrac, so I will be screwed with a new Sonyproduct that doesn't support it. I fear that my only choice for a large-cap player will be something other than a Sony product.
  4. I am in Canada, too, and got the message this morning. I've never used Connect, but the apparent decision to abandon ATRAC is retarded. All of my music - and it's a lot - has been ripped to that format. Will this mean that I have to re-do it in MP3 or AAC? And, that new line of digital music players announced in Europe is extremely disappointing. Where are the high-capacity (20 gigs or more) players? My NW-HD1 is just about full.
  5. Your suggestions are great, but what I would like to know is when, oh when, are the mods on this site going to follow through on their teaser about "Sony changes everything"? It's been a couple of months already, in spite of the "very, very soon" announcement. Was it just a red herring, then?

I, too, would love to see an improved HD1. (That's the one I own.) I have no complaints other than that I wish it had a bigger hard drive: 40Gb, at least. Getting rid of the cradle and having a direct USB connection would be nice, too. And a removeable battery. Ok, that's it. And, yeah, I am higly dubious that we'll hear about this "Sony changes everything" teaser anytime soon, if at all.
  7. Hi, I upgraded to SS 4.0, which appears to have fixed the problem. No more skips in those tracks! I actually don't mind the purple over the blue...
  8. Hello everyone, I have noticed that CDs that I have recently ripped to my NW-HD1 (64 kbps) have skips in virtually every track. This has occurred with about a dozen CDs over the past two weeks. I have ripped them on two or three occasions, but with the same annoying result. When I play other tracks from previously ripped CDs, they are fine (no skips). I am using SS 3.4. Would the upgrade to version 4.0 help matters? Might this be a hardware issue? Thanks for any advice!
